22 Jump Street and Wayne's World 2 are on the very short list of comedy sequels that work.

A Shot in the Dark technically might be the best of all time but that's sort of an asterisk.

 

is it too hot a take for me to say the entire harold and kumar trilogy is good

 

Jackass is it’s own thing but each one rules hard

 

The Grandpa one was bad.

 

while we're talking comedies, has their since been a better year for em after 2008? pineapple express, step brothers, forgetting sarah marshall, role models, harold and kumar 2, tropic thunder, probably some others

 

I meant the core trilogy, that’s my canon

Good comedies are so hard to come by now. Last one that even comes to mind is like Eighth Grade?

 

Walk Hard

 

Good Boys was legit

 

Oh yeah I liked that one

 

Ehh good boys was okay.

 

Booksmart was good.

 

Popstar and MacGruber were great. Booksmart was okay. Game Night was solid mostly for Jesse Plemons

 

Ma was unintentionally hilarious especially watching with friends.

 

I wasn’t really counting auteurs/was trying to think of mainstream studio comedies but Everybody Wants Some is excellent

 

Harold and Kumar 2 has not aged well at all.

 

Related but I think being funny is an underrated skill, and good comedy is just as much acting, sometimes more so, than dramatic acting

 

Watched Hot Rod for the first time last night. That was great.

 

Dolemite Is My Name was last year and it ruled. It’s too bad it didn’t/couldn’t get a wide theatrical release.

 

Jesse Plemons is so great in that movie.

 

damn, that's honestly my favorite of the three. far as i recall, everything but the scene with the inbred child still works for me (it's been a bit of a while, mind you)

 

The framing of George W. as a cool guy that just wants to smoke weed and the usual gay panic/prison rape stuff is like peak 00s humor.

 

yeah, touche. there's gotta be some stuff i and others would dislike immediately if i first-timed it today

 

The Jumanji reboot was pretty decent. Haven’t seen the sequel
