I'm pretty happy with it. I've been waiting on it for a while. It's been about 3 years since their first EP and I've seen them live like 20 times since then. Good stuff. Hope they pick up some steam with this release.

War metal is such a weird subculture

 

As someone who's a total whorebag for war metal... It is. It seriously fucking is.

 

I can't get into it but then again I haven't really tried that hard. It always feel like an endeavor, like being suffocated by a wall of sound lol

Agreed! I love when an album can be both heavy and beautiful.

 

You could make the argument that all metal subcultures have their weird ends. Just look at the "sick-horrow" dorks who worship bands like Mortician and give people shit for liking bands like Gatecreeper or thrash dudes who hate on pizza thrashers. It's the kind of thing that makes me really glad I'm such a normie compared to most of the metalheads I know.

 

I like usually the darker side of metal but yeah the fan base is pretty cringe. If it sounds good I like it, regardless of genre or culture. Be it Björk or Blashpemy. People need to stop giving a shit. I'm not into 98% of metalcore but I don't shit talk anyone on here who digs it. I'd rather listen to Akercocke than Architects but more power to you for digging what you dig. I'm glad this forum is not like the Nuclear War Now! forum, even though I dig a lot of bands in that style.

 

I like all sorts of different stuff, for all sorts of different reasons. I have trouble understanding people who only like one narrow genre of music.

 

I posted this a couple weeks ago, but no one really paid it much attention. I'm revisiting it now and it rips. Give it a shot, people. This thing has something for everyone.

 

Yeah, I’ve never understood the mentality of listening to one genre of music. Even bands that play metal say they can’t constantly listen to it and can’t get creative just living in a tiny vacuum.
