Phew!

 

i am 100% surprised this got trashed honestly, but maybe that was silly of me since I was basing this entirely on the Guardians of the Galaxy experience (new super hero franchise made up of an ensemble with an august release; introduced with a fun, intriguing trailer). I thought this had all the makings of a home run, so to see it getting destroyed is very surprising.

I don't like comic book movies but i also don't know if i trust critics when they review comic book movies. Loved Watchmen, hated Avengers, loved Iron Man, hated every other iron man etc etc.

unlike batman vs superman, which i have no intention of ever watching, i will give this a spin regardless of reviews. Maybe i'll combo it in a double feature!

 

I wish they cut them all out

 

I just really hope they don't also do an ultimate cut. If that becomes the trend for DC I will stop seeing them in theaters.

 

Considering how badly trashed Leto got in reviews, I have to wonder of what level of quality those deleted scenes are. I'm guessing not good.

 

Of the movie's problems, Leto barely registers. The writing and the music cues (Note to the movie music folk, please stop inserting the following songs into your films: "Fortunate Son," "Seven Nation Army," "House of the Rising Sun," "Spirit in the Sky" and while we're at it, "Without Me.") are far, far worse.

 

Seven Nation Army needs to be retired in general, I'm so burnt out on that song.

 

It is not even one of their best songs.

This movie looks terrible. Batman vs Superman was terrible. Watching both of those movies as a double feature sounds like a truly miserable time, haha.

Thinking that this movie would be anywhere close to Guardians is just bananas to me. Guardians looked good just from the trailers. Suicide Squad's trailers couldn't even make it look good.

I'm looking forward to see if anyone here honestly gives this a good review.

 

Apparently 'Sympathy for the Devil' is in the movie too. As if they couldn't get any more hacky and obvious.

I remember when BvS came out the posters in /r/DC_Cinematic were talking about seeing the movie in theaters 4 or 5 times. I always thought "I would literally rather watch my grandparents have sex than sit through that movie 5 times"

 

Maybe they just wanted something to help them fall asleep to?

 

The DC fanboys are so fucking awful about the DCU at this point. Like you know why Marvel movies get better reviews? BECAUSE THEY'RE BETTER FUCKING MOVIES, THAT'S WHY! No bias or any of that, it comes down to Marvel putting out a better product. You want to get mad, go take a shit on Hack Synder's doorstep.

As a huge DC fan, I don't think I've ever said anything about Marvel. I love the Marvel movies, even the one's people seem to hate on I tend to find stuff to like. Why do they need to compare? Snyder is far from a hack and watching a movie isn't better than watching old people sex. You people are all ridiculous in here.

I don't want Marvel light in DC films. I love how dark these are. I love how light the Marvel comedies are. I love what fox is doing with Xmen. I want it all and I don't want them all to be the same.

To be frank, I was talking about the fanboys trying to get RT shut down because their feelings are hurt by reviews and are flooding comment sections across the web about how the general public just doesn't get it. Never once thought of you really.

 

To clarify I think Snyder is great with visuals. BvS and MoS both looked amazing. Unfortunately, he is a terrible story-teller. My distaste for the two Snyder films has nothing to do with the visual tone, but the story-telling and characterizations.

 

Bolded for emphasis. That's why I look as Snyder as a hack, he can make pretty visuals like no man can but the man himself is just trash as a storyteller. Like did his last string of films prior to MoS not fill you in on that? Like the DCU blame can be spread out to a number of people and factors but Snyder by far is one of the bigger ones.

 

I dunno, I really liked Dawn of the Dead, 300, the owl movie and MOS. The story elements in those were awesome.

Edit: How the hell could I forget the Watchmen. That scene at the end where Midnight explodes Rorschach gives me chills every time. "Dooooooo ittttttt"

The problem with dark DC films is that it is clearly them trying to not be Marvel and to be like The Dark Knight trilogy. They sadly don't seem to have anyone on board with the insight on how to do it well. So we keep getting at the very best "okay" movies.
