I've seen physical copies for like £35 which keeps tempting me. I've only been playing AC on Switch atm so I want something else.

Having never played Spyro, is the trilogy worth buying?

How does it stack up against games like Crash Bandicoot, Rachet and Clank, and Jak and Daxter?

If you like old school, b-tier 3D platformers, then yes. I say this with love.

Spyro is essentially proto-Ratchet & Clank. Sub out the bolts for gems and it's pretty similar. The Reignited Trilogy is definitely worth it if you've never played them. They're great games.

Am I right in thinking that you basically have to follow a convoluted way to farm metal slimes in order to grind enough levels in ACT 3 to get to beat the final boss? In DQ11 @Jake W

Might seem like a chore at first but it's worth it for the true ending

It's alright. They finally did away with the whole time limit system so you don't get overloaded with tasks and feel stressed out all the time.

It's got a real interesting combat system and after you get used to it, it's pretty fun.

However, I wouldn't not say it's a game you HAVE to play. There are small little annoyances here and there and for some reason, it just doesn't feel that charming or special. It's solid, just kind of forgettable after a while.

I wish we could get another Ratchet & Clank at some point. Maybe Insomniac will go back and make a new one after Spider-Man 2 and Sunset Overdrive 2.

I started playing the Jak and Daxter trilogy before ever getting to Ratchet and Clank and was blown away by how detailed everything was at the time with stellar voice acting. The first is such a good game. I think I may prefer R&C though

It’s tough to choose between the first three Jak games and the first three R&C games. The Jak trilogy was incredible because the story was so cool and the world was so fun to explore, especially in 2 and 3. But the first three R&C games are definitely more consistently great in terms of tight gameplay and humor, they’re the definition of pure gaming fun. Tough call.

It's Ratchet and Clank, no doubts at all. Up Your Arsenal alone is fucking incredible.

Jak 2 and Jak 3 crush the Ratchet games imo

    All are really great though

Yeah, no. Definitely not Jak 3. Also, R&C A Crack in Time and the reboot are amazing. The Jak series died with a whimper with Jak: The Lost Frontier. Ouch.
