I’m not even a mario guy haha! I had one on gameboy colour and that’s the only one I’ve ever enjoyed. Even with that it annoyed me as a kid lol

I've only played bits of 64, never got hugely into it. Sunshine always looked fun though, I'd be tempted by a remaster of that.

Feel like I should get Odyssey eventually, but there's a fairly long list of things I want to play first.

Galaxy was really held back by the Wii not being an HD console, that art will look so good on Switch

If you have a Switch but not Odyssey you’re doing a disservice to yourself, I promise lol

Odyssey is very good but it just didnt scratch a lot of the Mario itches for me. i prefer something more akin to a traditional level than i do Odyssey's big open zones.

I liked it most since Sunshine exactly because of the open levels

Sunshine is also pretty down on my 3D Marios. i love both Sunshine and Odyssey a whole bunch and would would take either of them over any non-Mario 3D platformer any day but i love the level designs of 3D World and Galaxy a whole bunch more.

Odyssey doesnt feel fun to try and 100 percent to me, and that's a bummer. it's fun to find secret star 5 of 5 in a smaller level but when its secret star one billion of two billion in an Odyssey kingdom i just get intimidated

    id rank

    - 3D World
    - Galaxy 2
    - Odyssey
    - 64
    - 3D Land
    - Sunshine
    - Galaxy

but the difference between first and last spot is like A++ versus B/B+

Odyssey is the best standalone Mario game out of the ones I've played anyway. Still my favorite Switch game.

I've never played the 3D World/Land or Galaxy games tho

If I remember correctly Galaxy 2 is the best. The Yoshi levels were insane.

yeah Galaxy 1 is only at the bottom of my list because it is the only one that got a direct sequel that straight up improved upon it in p much every area

i wonder if any of the 64x4 stuff gets brought over. i really enjoyed it at the time but i was like 13 and the DS felt like a revelation.

I’m interested to see if Mario 64 gets a complete overhaul graphically. I find the polygons to be a wreck and haven’t aged well at all. I’d honestly rather play SNES games than 64 games now days.

I remember being so ridiculously hyped for Sunshine back in the day. I'll never forget throwing it in the ol' 'Cube on launch day and playing through that introductory part where you first get the FLUDD. I was 11 at the time and it was like discovering a whole new world, exploring that island and discovering all the levels. One of my fondest-remembered childhood gaming experiences, easily.
