Just got my 10" of the new From Indian Lakes EP!

Anybody have recommendations on a Record Player? Not looking to get a crazy expensive one, but I'm also wanting to get something nice and I'm willing to spend a decent amount on one. Vague terms I know, but looking on various websites I feel slightly overwhelmed with the choices.

Which is more important? The actual player or the receiver? I'm way late getting into Vinyl, clearly.

I always start with the player because that's what's going to be making contact with your records. Get a bad turntable and it can potentially damage your records over time and plays. What's your budget?

 

AT-120 or Project Carbon Debut.

 

The AT-120 is fabulous. Good price for great quality.

 

I second the AT-120. I also own it and I've thought about up grading but thought this was a really good quality for what I paid and can't justify going higher at this point.

Great player if you're willing to spend a bit more.

 

My friend got that. He highly recommends that.

 

There are times when a fully automatic table is nice, so that's something to consider as well.

 

I've had it for 3+ years and just recently put a new shure cartriage on it. Sounds great.

The fully automatic function is nice when friends want to play records and you don't have to worry about them dropping the needle to hard or scratching records.

 

Also nice for those times when you fall asleep at 2am on the couch...four hours later you wake up, and the record is still spinning.

 

Anyone else use discogs?

I'm loving all the pictures, especially Drew's dope ass pics. I need to get my collection/life in order and either redo my Deadformat (https://deadformat.net/collection/phillykraze/haves) or start a Discogs account because I've bought a lot of stuff since the last time I updated anything.

The last record that came in for me was Devinyl Split 6, and I'm waiting on Greater Pyrenees' debut and the new Aesop Rock album to be released next month.

Collecting vinyl is the adult version of collection Pokemon cards.

 

I haven't decided on one quite yet. I have a lot of Reward Zone points at Best Buy, so I feel like I can spend a little more than I would otherwise. But I'll still have to buy speakers and a receiver. So I'm still trying to figure that out.

 

This is all true, but i can't count how many times I've put a 7" on the platter and pressed play and forgot to switch it form 12" to 7"

 

Also just ordered a Project Debut Carbon and I am so ridiculously excited

 

Report back once it comes in and you play with it for a bit. I've been thinking about upgrading my player and the Carbon seems to be universally loved (plus it looks pretty sweet)

You won't be disappointed. I have one of these and I absolutely love it.

 

Best choice, I hate my LP1200 haha
