The media is way off on things a lot. Epenesa is very good. I’d take Chaisson first if I ran a 3-4 but for a 4-3 Chase Young is the only better option.

 

I think he’s only dropping because of his Combine, which is fair. But like, Jared Allen ran like a 4.97 - if you’re a power rusher who doesn’t rely on speed & dip / bend, and who defends the run well on run downs? 40 time legit doesn’t matter.

 

But hey, if he falls cool. That’ll be the third time Caldwell got a bargain in round 2 because someone’s draft stock fell lol. Already got Myles Jack and Jawaan Taylor that way.

A loooot of places have him as a fringe 1st to 2nd round guy. Can you at least admit there's a chance a large portion of the media isn't wrong, and just maybe you are?

 

I just wanna know what happened. A month or two ago, he was being mocked easily in the top 10 and now he is late 1st round almost everywhere. I would imagine it has to do a lot with his combine but who knows?

There’s a chance yeah. But it’s kind of ironic that this happened after the Combine. He was a top 15 prospect on a lot of mock drafts before that. I think it’s perfectly valid for me to assert the media is over reacting to a lackluster Combine, at a position where those numbers aren’t always important.

 

Nothing particularly happened with me. I took him at 16 in our first mock because the Falcons needed any kind of a pass rusher and I owned it was a reach. I just don't agree he's a top guy in the draft.

Just as it's fair to say "being the 3rd best EDGE in a bad draft for EDGES" doesn't mean your good. Just means your better than the rest of not great EDGEs.

 

This isn’t like an awful EDGE class though. It’s average. Not great but average.

And again, he’s #2 if your defense asks your edge rushers to consistently hold the point of attack against the run. Having boosted pass rush is great but that can easily be offset if that player is a liability against running teams, cause then you start throttling his snaps which reduces pass rush production.

 

...that doesn't change my point at all. Being #2 or #3 on the EDGE doesn't warrant being a top 15 pick simply because you play an important position. You have to also be good, not just better than a meh class.

 

Let me ask you this, is there anything specific you don’t like about him as a prospect other than, “he’s not that fast”

 

I’m gonna say it like this - most years the top pass rushers need work to learn how to defend the run. Epenesa is already somewhat polished there and allows you to skip that early developmental step while still benefiting from a diverse set of pass rushing tools & techniques.

I think he’s pretty easily a better pass rusher than Yetur Gross-Matos and pretty easily a better run defender than K’Lavon Chaisson so it’s justifiable to me *shrug* Chaisson is going in the teens & YGM is going early 20s. So how the hell is Epenesa a reach at 20

 

I don't think calling someone a late 1st to 2nd rounder = they suck lol

 

This all started because you took him at 9 and i deemed that a massive reach, which i still think is true. If you're cool reaching that's cool, i like guys who get their player and don't care about the economics of it. But i do care about that and at 9 it was a waste of what could have been a gamechanger, to me.

I took him because there were no game changers for Jax at 9 haha

They are all gone by pick 8. The only real game changer would’ve been trading down but I couldn’t because, wanna guess why? There wasn’t a stud player people wanted to trade up for there.

I considered CeeDee Lamb but Tyler Johnson in the mid FOURTH round is better value. I considered Andrew Thomas but as I’ve said our OL was much improved last year while our defense got DECIMATED. Epenesa > Kinlaw and I already took Brown. Epenesa literally “changes the game” for us more than anyone else I could’ve taken there.

 

And this is just the crux of it for me. CeeDee Lamb over Aj Epenesa 1000000 times out of 1000000

 

Not in a super deep WR class. I got a guy I have a second round grade on, in round four.

 

Like, I think we disagree on so much about this

Because we disagree on Minshew, we disgree on the need for CeeDee causing us to disagree on picking Epenesa.

 

This is so confusing to me though because like...you could have done the same with Edge! Your whole thing with Epenesa is he's the #2 Edge. Well...Lamb is the #2 or #1 WR and helps your developing QB.
