    Great news.

  7. Man, I was excited to rent The Hunt and The Invisible Man but not for $20 lol what do they think movie rentals cost these days? Really hoping that's the "buy" price and not the only option.

They’re calling it a “premium rental” so that’s why.

Ah man. Something awesome turned into something lame really fast. Strong work Universal gouging the public when times are getting tough

  10. It's like they're begging me to find a rip of it lol who is gonna pay that price

I mean, I get that it seems like a lot but if would be more expensive for me and my girlfriend to physically go out and see a movie and I’d far rather watch from the comfort of my home anyways, they’re obviously going to try and recoup some of their losses

I don’t wanna pay regardless and will just download rips but I think it’s pretty easy to see the studio logic here

I don’t think $20 is bad at all for renting a big budget movie that just came into theaters.

I’d honestly love if all studios offered this option. Besides a few films here and there, I’d much rather pay $20 to watch at home, then pay $10-15 for a ticket plus another $15 for drinks and candy, and possibly risk having a terrible audience

  14. Hmmm...my girlfriend and I regularly catch movies in theaters for ~$12, haha. Maybe part of the disconnect here.

Yeah, there is absolutely no way I’m paying $20 for the same experience that I can just wait and get for free a few months later, especially as just a rental. The only possible exceptions during this would be something incredibly small that I want to support no matter what, but I think a lot of those have been pushed to a later release date anyway. Not sure about Saint Maud’s status, but that’s the only one up in the air that I can think of off the top of my head.

I pay $7 for matinee Tuesday to see movies. $20 to watch a movie on my iPad is out of the question for me. But to each their own for sure! I’m sure the studios know what they’re doing. I just feel like the better PR move would have been to offer the movies at a reduced price and announce they were doing that to help people cope with the social isolation. Invisible Man is already way over the profit line too.

My local independent theater put out a post saying not to rent these new release movies because they are going to kill the local theater industry, and that they should be delaying the movies instead of making a quick buck

Started Suspiria(18) on Amazon. The consensus on this was it was good, but not as good as the original? It’s definitely got a vibe thus far I’m digging lol.
