Congrats on her pregnancy and props for trying to go for a really powerful statement ballad.....but boy it's not really that great lol. I want to feel emotions with something trying to feel this big like I do with Kesha's Praying or something but man I just could not with this. That hook in particular, and the lyrics aren't exactly great either. Nice gettin' with Orlando though!

 

This is the worst kind of Katy Perry song. The chorus has her singing way out of her zone. She's not a powerhouse ballad singer and I wish she'd realize that.

I think the song is just... fine. Like if I heard it on someone's rustic Pinterest wedding playlist I wouldn't be mad. But I'm not gonna seek it out

 

It's just not something I'd ever listen to unless I was about to be engaged or married. It's for a really specific audience but I think the song is more for her than anything else so I mean whatever.

 

What's going on with those three or four singles she's randomly dropped the past year or so? Any word if those were the lead single for an album or are they just one offs?

 

I think she was gearing up for an album but wasn't happy with how the singles did so she went back to the drawing board. But idk maybe she really only meant to do singles.

I do wish she would stop focusing so much on chart domination. She still has a huge audience even if it's not what it once was and I really loved all 3 of the songs last year.

 

No idea. Completely speculative with nothing to back it up, but I think she was trying to get a single that could be a jumping off point for her to get in the mainstream conversation and then release and album. It just never happened.

No offense to kiana's love of Christina Aguilera, but I think it would be best if she took Christina's route and just released albums without hopes of getting another big hit and toured, while making her money on TV. She 1000% made the right decision to dump Dr. Luke, but has failed to gain much ground back that she had during her biggest run with him. I think he and Max Martin understood her vocal limitations more than others that she's worked with since and that's a shame.

 

The more she chases it the less likely it is to happen. Like wasn't there something about focus group testing not long ago. That's just not a good look at all and just kind of becomes sad. I genuinely do feel bad for her, I can't imagine how it feels to really just be rejected by society as a whole. Witness wasn't great, but it wasn't bad enough to derail her whole career.

 

Yea I give her full props for how much the song probably means to her. Although honestly even if I was getting engaged or married this would probably not make my list lol but regardless, it is very specific.

 

I'd take Christina Perri's "1,000 Years" over this and I hate that song.

Glad she’s moving into a full album release. I hope she didn’t abandon everything she started doing with the singles

 

Not the strongest lead for radio, but it’s actually really nice and refreshing from her.

 

There's just something I always enjoy about her music idek why. Like this song from anyone else I'm like eh, and from her I'm like... Okay.
