A trans friend of mine made this post on Facebook, and I agree:

"The whole emotional blackmail shit going with supporting Hillary Clinton is terrible and abusive. Go and vote for her if you need to feel good about yourself. But it is ludicrous to claim she represents any politics of survival.

She will build a wall, continue FBI surveillance of muslims, erode abortion rights, and start a war or two. This is facts.

I respond very badly to gaslighting and bullying. Left, right, or center. So do many of us. It is not going to work.

So if you do it, you just an abuser seeing a way to acceptably engage in your behavior. Funny thing is, this is exactly how the sect left operates.

Hillary Clinton and Bob Avakian: same shit, different stakes."

This is just silly. "She will build a wall...this is fact"? Do I even need to go into the political backlash that would ensue and the estimated 20 million of federal funding that would have to be poured into such a project which she has at no point been in support of? And when has HRC ever been against abortion rights? She's advocated for adoption and other alternatives to reduce abortion, but her bottom line has always been a woman's right to choose. There are so many (true) things that are wrong with Hillary that it's just ridiculous to me that someone could claim that she's going to build a wall, strip away women's rights and that a prediction is fact.

No wonder he defends Roger Ailes. There was an expose about Ailes a few years ago that painted him as completely paranoid where he tried to bomb-proof his office at Fox News and fired a "Muslim-looking janitor."

The argument is, if Hillary is a hawk on national security, then it follows she will enhance border security; she will build upon Obama's own enhancement. As for a woman's right to abortion, her seriousness came into question when she chose Tim Kaine as her running mate.

  12. Third Parties Ruin Everything, According To Political Science

Similarly minded parties have no choice but to fuse together into one grand party, lest they risk being divided and conquered. Third parties, meanwhile, turn out to be terrible for democracy (at least in single-seat, winner-take-all elections) because they often lead to the candidate who is least preferred by a majority of the electorate coming to power.

TP writing about Duverger's Law. Or saying what I said years ago about the biggest issue I think no one talks about.

What is still interesting about the Florida vote in 00 is that no one talks about the hundreds of thousands of democrats who voted for Bush.

Just as an aside, not really as a comment on the actual 3rd party argument.

  15. In 50 years I'll be dead and people will know more about that election than we have any idea about. Haha. I feel like that story is 1/3rd told.

  17. I want to make a wifi joke because I'm a horrible asshole, even though I'm probably voting for her unless Oregon's polls change dramatically in the next 99 days.

Yeah. It's more narrative than anything else honestly. I learned more about it in one class than I did in the preceding 14 years and I still don't know everything. You could probably write a thesis on everything Gore did wrong and why it played out the way it did. (Also, Florida wasn't the only state in play he lost that would have given him the election, but no one really talks about that either haha.)

I'm not a registered Democrat because they're fucking stupid, so I couldn't vote in the primaries.

There's really no reason to have closed primaries except to be insular. They misrepresent the desires of the populace

I switched to Democrat to vote for Sanders/Fetterman but you can't expect every independent to bother

If people are going to attack stein for being uncomfortably close to the anti vax movement even if she doesn't actually endorse it, I think it's only fair to criticize Kaine for his self-admitted personal views that are in opposition to abortion.
