Knowing that I won't get a Superman film I can truly love is one of the biggest reasons why I love Supergirl. The others being hunger for female superhero protagonists, and Melissa Benoist being literally the best person ever.

I think it's well worth it, but I'm in the minority here

  4. I think it's worth seeing as well. At the very least, even most people that didn't like it seemed to like Batfleck.

It's a really fun movie that I instantly wanted to watch again once it finished, I'd say it's more than worth seeing

Yeah, I guess I'm in the minority who strongly disliked it.

I was very disappointed as well. I haven't gotten to the "outright loathe" phase yet but every time think about it I dislike it more and more.

I am very confident in Suicide Squad though, that movie looks awesome!

I'd say it's worth it. I didn't hate it. And the action sequences are great on a big screen

I mean, you sort of have to see it it...right? The marketing gods have deemed it so. You can't not see it, you would be a social outcast. You would be like one of the guys that refused to watch Breaking Bad or Mad Men. You would be completely out of touch with the cultural zeitgeist.

Look at it this way, even if you think the movie is garbage, it's still an excuse to eat a bag of Reese's Pieces.

And for the record, as much as I hated it, there is a lot to love about it. I think Snyder is a pretty excellent visual storyteller and BvS is certainly a beautiful looking film. Hans Zimmer's score rivals his work with Nolan. Everyone turns in pretty good performances.

All of those great things simply aren't things I value that much, I place more value on plot, pacing, and whether or not the story follows the rules it sets up. And on those levels, I feel the movie failed miserably. You may not agree, I have talked to many that loved it.

Saw it yesterday. My main gripe it contextless Batman. Inexcusable to serve us this as Affleck's first Batman appearance.

I'm more in the middle overall. Some really great parts, aome really bad parts along with a lot of problems that effect the whole movie.

I am feeling more negative on it the more I see people who love it try to defend it. They ignore the problems and don't do a great job at saying why the good outweighs the bad. Or they bring up okay parts as great. It's weird. Their defense makes me feel more negative. So I kind of stopped reading/listening to the super positive reviews. They just ignore too much and I don't want to hate this more than I do because of that.

While we have missed a lot of his story, they actually do a great job at setting up his origin and explaining his motivation for his role in the movie. We see how/why he became Bats and we see why he hates/distrusts Superman. They BRIEFLY discuss why this Batman seems more violent/cruel. It is rushed, but his character is probably the best set up and used character in the movie. Now Superman? That is a mess of a character in these films.

Rushed is probably the better word for it. I'm not saying I need to see another origin story film, but Snyder jumped the gun. You could compare this film to him blowing up a balloon too much and the ballon subsequently exploding.

I think as a whole, Snyder assumed audiences are more familiar with the deeper mythology of these characters than they actually are.

For example, I knew that in the books, Joker kills Jason Todd. So when Bruce looks at the vandalized Robin suit I knew what the implication was. My wife on the other hand, not only had no clue what any of that meant, but wasn't even clear that we were looking at the Robin suit. Now, this is fine if it is merely a fun wink to the fans, but it isn't, it's a major piece of context for one of the main characters of the film. Robin's death presumably explains Batman's more violent behavior in the film, and only comic book fans (maybe 1-5% of the film's audience) understood that. The same can be said for the awkward Flash cameo. Honestly, how would your average film-goer even know that was the Flash?

I asked my friend who only has basic knowledge of DC characters (only familiar with the cinematic releases, none of the animated series or comics) if she knew who that cameo was supposed to be and she said she had no idea and thought it was weird and random. Not sure if the intention was for it to be ambiguous, but I felt like they should've been clearer with it

Honestly, I could barely understand what he was saying in the scene because the mix was so weird. Something about something...

I couldn't positively identify him until the mask came off.

Something about Bats being right about "him", way to be vague Flash. Something about Lois being the key. And I didn't catch it, but some believe he asked "am I early?" Right at the end.

Guess i'm out of touch, never seen a episode of either of those shows and don't plan to.

I missed most of the scene when he appeared in the flashback but my wife turned to me and asked if that was him. Was surprised she knew because she's not much of a comic reader.

Yeah he said "Am I early? I'm too early" or something like that. I get he was supposed to be in battle gear but they could've at least had the emblem somewhere

While we are discussing the specific scene. Either Snyder's version of Batman is pre-cognitive, or The Flash can enter people's dreams now. Because the Flash scene gave Bruce NEW INFORMATION, meaning he couldn't have been dreaming per se, but having a vision. The same can be said for Superman's conversation with Pa Kent. Kent, presumably, tells Clark a story he didn't previously know.

Honestly, I don't even think Snyder knows the answer to this question.

He probably just thought it would look cool.

I don't agree about the Robin thing being too much for casual moviegoers. We don't know if it's even Jason Todd. We just know there was a Robin and apparently Joker is the reason he's not around now. That gives you enough context for it to inform Batman's character

The Flash cameo, I wasn't even sure that was Flash. Don't know what the costume is supposed to look like in these movies, but I couldn't really make out the details here either. It's made more confusing by the fact that Bruce is dreaming about Superman, wakes up to this Flash thing, then wakes up again? What?
