I think the vast majority who refuse to vote for the lesser of two evils are either only seeing what effects them personally OR truly ignorant about things (ie: they do not see a difference between what the two admins would do for anybody/anything)
Like that is so wild to me because to take just one example Betsy Devos would be out & the dept of education could be rebuilt which would absolutely have an effect on literally all of the youth but hopefully especially marginalized schools.
Similarly it’s wild to me to see that last statement skimmed over so lightly.
A president who says racist and sexist thing on a daily basis is literally effecting our culture in deep and insidious ways. Honestly if the two presidencies had NO OTHER difference than this I would still argue vehemently that that’s a hugely important difference that has real effect on peoples day-to-day lives
That’s the thing. It’s not like I’m saying Biden is the answer or will do any of the shit I want a president to do
But when placed side by side with the other option I don’t see how anyone couldn’t see the inherent value in voting for him

Your vote does matter even if you feel it doesn’t make a difference tho. I get not “wanting” to vote for him, but I personally don’t think that’s an acceptable reason to be okay with 4 more years of trump

even besides me living in a deep red state if Biden wins the popular vote by millions he could still lose because our system is busted so I don’t think my vote really matters or makes any difference and to characterize this as me being okay with trump winning because I’d rather not debase myself by being enthusiastic to get out and vote or do any work for Biden makes my head spin, so I think we are going to have to agree to disagree on this one and go on about our day

You're right, that does have a deep impact on our society, and I probably shouldn't have included that.

I'm in an unusually pessimistic mood rn, I have no idea what i'm going to do in November yet. I'm not sure where I fall on the matter of voting for Biden at this point, it's going to take a long time to grapple with this whole primary cycle. I'm having a hard time seeing how Biden's going to fundamentally make anyone's lives better vs. what Trump has done. Everyone keeps pointing out his SCOTUS picks but i'm not so sure they're going to be any better than Trump's.
