Yes, supporter bases can be very diverse. And morons can be leftists, just as Latinos may be Trump supporters. However, intelligent, informed persons are, in my experience, never, ever partisan conservatives.

And I agree that there are some issues that can be defended on principle (conceal and carry, and censorship of pornography are my two, for instance). However, an intelligent and informed person does not take positions like thinking its tax-effective to drug test welfare recipients, does not believe in trickle down economics, does not believe in entitlements de-incentivizing people and lowering workforce participation, does not endorse punitive and cruel incarceration and whine about rehabilitative approaches, does not believe consumer protections in finance somehow hurts long-term economic growth, does not believe recycling is a liberal gesture or that EPA regulation keep the free market from naturally limiting pollution, or that does not deny institutional racism--- because those are all stances that are factually illegitimate (and I could go on for hours).

Well I think first and foremost intelligent, well-informed people aren't partisan at all. Rather, they have a complicated, sometimes inconsistent and hypocritical, value-set. They are in fact, human beings.

I think the least intelligent of us, die on the hill of partisan politics.

I've been reading dystopian novels lately and the lines are blurring between those and reality.

  12. 99 years ago today Frank Little was lynched and hung from a railroad trestle with a note that said "First and last warning." He was a union organizer involved in a strike against the Anaconda Copper Company which had organized 'home guards' and newspaper bias against the unions and strikers. No one was prosecuted or charged with his murder. The Anaconda Copper Company, at the time, was part of a copper trust operated by 'Henry Huttleston Rogers (John D. Rockefeller’s friend and a key man in his Standard Oil businesses) and William Rockefeller (John’s brother),' revered 'titans of industry.'

It is crazy how viscerally liberals are attacking Stein. And the tack they choose to take is "anti-science". Haha.

Because, I mean, all the candidates profess a belief in a higher power that loves America specifically and also grants wishes. But, okay, this is about science.

  16. Plus in that realm the #1 issue in the world by infinity miles is global warming which she is the strongest candidate on easily ("unrealistic" doesn't get me here because, as we've all been told, she won't win anyway)

The chances are more likely I'd watch a debate if an MLB game is on. Putting on a boring ass baseball game just takes away one more channel that could have entertaining/informative programming.

I would say the fact that Clinton is tied with Trump at this point is something of which to be wary. A few months back, he was the preferred candidate by liberals, because he was thought to be easily beaten.

Friday, I had a "liberal" acquaintance (prided himself on being "really far to the left" when I lukewarmly responded to "how liberal are you") who has shifted to a more libertarian outlook and supports Clinton (she has "perfect" policy but is just a liar).

In a Facebook conversation, he rejected Stein and Sanders because they're anti-corporation and he's been reading up on the economics of Keynes and the Nordic model, which are conservative and "really free market" (the latter being justified by low statutory corporate tax rates and the former being justified by who the fuck knows).

The length and passive spitefulness of my response were considerable.

Also, the US is too stupid for any candidate to be easily beaten, but I do agree with outraged moderate Republicans that Kasich would have knifed through Clinton like butter.
