I don't agree that they're overrated, but there are certainly a lot of "classic rock is the only good music" types out there. I'm sure listening to endless praise could get annoying. Definitely a case where you gotta look past the annoying fans and see that the good stuff is there.

for sure, hyperbolic genre purists of any type are annoying, and i suppose classic rock has the distinction of also being way more canonized which might lend those opinions some "legitimacy", but i just don't recall meeting anyone who indiscriminately rides for classic rock like that since i was in high school. it also doesn't seem like that specific type of fan is the majority anymore, but im not gonna claim that my anecdotal experience is the truth lol

 

I like Zeppelin more than the Stones and most of the bigger classic rock bands.

 

I don't love the Stones but I totally get their massive importance and can recognize they're a good band

 

all I can think of is the Bojack joke where PB calls the Mighty Mighty Bosstones the Stones

 

Member for member they don't quite stack up to Led Zeppelin. Jimi Yes, but Mitch and Noel are topped by Bonham and JPJ. And I love Mitch Mitchell to an unhealthy degree.

They both sit at the top though, as far as I'm concerned.

Rush, Black Sabbath, Neil Young would be my picks for my favorites if we're keeping it to the 70s
