bands getting more and more chill as a default aesthetic choice makes so much music borderline unlistenable to me bc now they don't have the energy to mask that they're also shit songwriters or it'll take otherwise good songs and sap them of any sense of dynamics

most bands don't have enough good ideas between them to even need two guitar players

 

on that point, why the fuck does man overboard have 3 guitarists?

 

jesus christ, yes, there are so many pop punk bands that inexplicably have three guitar players. the wonder years dont need three either or balance and composure when they were still a band

Was listening to Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets the other day and they're genuinely fantastic. Forgot how much I love those two.

Slayer is horrible. I never liked them back in the day and I thought they were probably worth another chance so I put on Reign in Blood and, a few riffs aside, still not good.

araya clearly has the best voice, king is the best songwriter, and the combo of king and henneman had the best riffs by far

 

Metallica, at least the post-Reload stuff, would be way more listenable if they understood it's okay to trim the fat and make 4 mins songs!

 

Angel of Death alone is one of the best Metal songs ever.

I’d go as far as to argue they only have one real “bad” album and even then I don’t think it’s as nearly as bad as Metallica’s worst.

 

That type of metal doesn’t do it for me at all. It’s not nearly as aggressive or abrasive enough for me to even consider it “real” metal. They feel more like hard rock bands. “Metal” to me has to be much faster or spastic or grindier.

 

Probably an unpopular opinion to say this is exactly how I feel about Hyperview.
