I listened to the release at midnight. Since "Burn it Down" I had high expectations for this one. Aside from a few tracks ("Burn it Down", "Infinite", "Bad Habits", "Madness", "Take What you Give") I feel left feeling like I needed more; It feels almost flat to me, not because of the new direction and less unclean vocals, but just more so the tracks feel almost the same/filler feeling? and just going over the lyrics while listening, I don't feel they're as strong as they could be ("Say Yes" comes to mind first, and this was the one I was excited for most given comparisons to "Afterglow"). I will probably only return to the said tracks above.

This is the first time they’ve released an album that sounds pretty different from everything else. You can only write the same album so many times, and I think this is a pretty good pop-oriented version of Silverstein. Think this is way better than Dead Reflection as a whole.

Wish this would grow on me, but the more I listen the more I accept this is their worst release. Most of it is just bland and boring.

A few listens in now, here are some unorganized thoughts: overall I like it. Might actually be the first record for me that doesn’t have a bad song, it’s quite consistent. Lots of good choruses. Usually a big pop turn feels more jarring for me but this felt pretty natural. The poppiness itself was never a distraction and I never really thought “I wish this was heavier.” But that said I don’t think the highs are very high. poppy is fine but I didn’t expect some of it to get as top 40 as it does. It was actually pretty impressive at times tho. Several songs have some really cool elements, whether instrumentation or melodies, which I think give it some staying power. Lyrics are meh. Only a few songs I’d consider top tier Silverstein tho. None of that is very clear but idk how else to describe my thoughts. They do pop punk better than most, and it’s actually pretty diverse I think. When I listen to it I like it. And yet, I’m not craving to hit replay again.

    More thoughts:

-best song is shape shift, reminds me of a Halsey track at times in the best way
-second best is all on me
-beast feature is Aaron. Didn’t just feel like a token bridge addition and his voice meshed well. Nokia one was cool and unique too but sounds exactly like Dani filth on BMTH lol
-Caleb and simple plan features are pointless. Calebs singing voice is bad.
-say yes isn’t a skip track but the flow is awkward
-I generally don’t like geometric artwork but the purple theme is beautiful
-Silverstein have always been one of my favorites and I’m on board for anything they wanna do but I feel like we were robbed of a really good experimental album at some point. DR is my second favorite record but I wish they took the more experimental half of Wind Shifts and gave us a full album of that.

I've always had a mild to moderate enjoyment for everything these guys have done (Wind Shifts is their best) but this record is uh, dire

Listened through a couple of times now and I like all of the songs on here to varying degrees and dig all the guest spots. My issue is the sequencing, it just feels not very cohesive and all of the singles are kinda bunched together in the first 1/2 of the record. The last several songs are definitely too samey to stand out from one another. This is definitely the most pop punk sounding that Silverstein has ever been, it's just a weird follow-up to Dead Reflection.

Overall I dig this record and think it's a nice addition to their discography and shows they can change things up and experiment a bit

I honestly thought I was going to hate this album because I don't care for "Burn It Down" or "Infinite". And I am very relieved that I do not hate it!

I was pretty impressed but once I got to "September 14th" I knew in an instant that this one would be my favorite. It reminded me of why I love Silverstein, and that one song made me look back and feel like there is something missing in a lot of others... I have to listen more to figure out exactly what it is.

Overall, it sounds like they took "The Afterglow" and "Aquamarine" and tried to write more songs that resemble them. All On Me was a risk that I am glad they took though. I am eager to see how I will feel once the newness of the album has worn off.

I like the album. My expectations were probably too high because every single was so good. In the end, the album is solid and in my top half of Silverstein albums, but the singles are the brightest points for me. All On Me is great, loved that song.... and the closer would be so much better to me without having to hear the pointless simple plan feature lol. Still, happy to have this in my life. There hasn’t been much for me in 2020 so far, so getting this was awesome.

The show tonight ruled, Shane popped a bottle of champagne to share with the band to celebrate 20 years and the crowd went hard the whole night. Had a great time, maybe I'll write more tomorrow and post pics.

The comments on facebook are super devisive for this. Some people are hating on this big time. Its not bad, but its defintely my least favorite Silverstein album and I can see why fans would be dissappointed after how great Dead Reflection was.

Where Are You is a solid 9, but if it had some Shane screams thrown in there it would be a solid 15.

A couple of listens in and I quite enjoy. It’s a definite change of pace from the usual balance of heavy and light you’ll find on a Silverstein LP.

I’m caring less about the songs with the features; The Simple Plan feature is quite unnecessary as I feel Shane would have done the part the same if not better.

“All on Me” is going to be one of the best songs in their discog.

This album probably has some of their most catchy songs to date. Gonna listen to this and Dead Reflection during my long run tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

It's weird how a few years back, Life On Repeat put out a similarly poppy post-hardcore final album which sounded a lot like Silverstein... and now this album makes me think of the former a lot.

I like it so far, probably the catchiest thing they've released, even if it doesn't have anything that distinguish it from any other band in the genre. It doesn't scream Silverstein-y to me, which is probably where the first half of my post makes more sense now.

Okay I'm on Madness and it is instantly one of my favorite Silverstein songs. That guitar tone ugh. Princess Nokia's performance is giving me Poppy / Charli XCX vibes too

Say Yes! is so good! I thought I was listening to a Folie A Deux outtake for one second lol. Stop is such a jam...

I feel like the second half is so much better and blends the pop punk direction with their signature style more naturally.

I... don't mind the Simple Plan feature. Take What You Give is probably one of their most traditional songs, and brings me back to the A Shipwreck In The Sand days.

That's it, I seem to love this album after all.
