you can set an alarm to noise while having your phone on DND or silent. i thought that was obvious.

why on earth would you turn sound on for phone calls overnight. legitimately insane shit, man.

 

An emergency? What world are we living in????

 

You are insane if you have all notifications vibrate. Mine only vibrates for text and calls

 

I have so many apps and people in my life steven. I also work nights so I'm usually asleep until noon

 

I live in a different city than my family, the two people the city that would use me for an emergency lives with me and/or is asleep, and I'm poor so no one is calling me for money

 

I know, that's my point!!! If you have all your apps making noise or vibrating for every notification, that's insanity!!!

 

I’m technically on call 24/7 for my job, so at the very least I have to have vibrate on

 

Hence - silence

 

I'm team "silent except when expecting a call"

 

I have never heard my ringtone on this phone

 

Silent during the day, volume on at night

 

I honestly find it bizarre that anyone is talking in absolutes of like... on, off, vibrate etc... it's much more complicated than that!

Phone calls: silent, vibrate
Text messsages or FB messages: silent, vibrate
All other notifications: Silent, no vibrate
Alarms: audible, no vibrate

 

ive got ring on full volume otherwise i can never hear it since im usually around noisy shit i picked the most obnoxious preset ringtone on my phone too. i used to get woken up by calls but i just sleep thru them now

 

Kind of mind blown @ so much no vibrate energy. Can’t imagine just not caring if a person I knew was trying to contact me like that, haha. Regardless if it warranted an immediate response or not

The app thing I get though but I disable push notifications almost by default anyway so

 

I just hate being interrupted when I’m listening to music on Spotify so I keep it on do not disturb. That moment when the music/podcast pauses because you’re getting a call drives me nuts haha

 

I don't really talk on the phone unless its one of my parents

 

Silent all the time just obsessively check my phone screen every 15 seconds, it's so fun

 

i mean, y’all are acting like there’s some scenario where if someone called with an emergency that it wouldn’t be seen within a minute or two of missing a call. and there’s a feature for if there’s an emergency and someone tries to call multiple times that it will go through the silent mode. i’m not trying to have my phone on with alerts so my dumbass friends can wake me up every half hour when they’re at bars lol. wild.

 

How does that feature work? Like, three calls within a few minutes and then it starts ringing regardless of being on silent?

 

Hahaha. Yeah the break is definitely annoying if it’s someone I don’t know. But I feel like if someone I do know is taking the time to actually call me, it’s probably important enough for me to pause the music/podcast. The only people that occasionally call for no reason are my mom, grandma, and best friend that lives across the country and I’ve always got time for them!

I guess I just prefer to leave sound on at night and vibrate only the day.

 

I don't like people so constant silence for me.
