Florida is what's really making me feel hopeless for Bernie

Only thing we can really hope for is the 35-40% vote for him and there's a depressed turnout within the Republican party either because of their confidence or disappointment in Trump. Nothing more, nothing less.

Bernie not being viable in Florida would be BIG yikes

My mom and I got into a pretty passionate argument last night about what it is that Biden "has" over Bernie

She stated that she really likes Bernie's policies but kept hammering the that she thinks Biden is the only one who could defeat Trump, which I kept refuting because the polling does not show that to be true, and she also said that this country isn't ready for the progressive policies that Bernie wants to put in place after the Trump era, and that we just need someone to 'right the ship,' to which I said is also not true, that Bernie's policies poll very well. We went back and forth on it for a while, with her also saying that Bernie would have been the perfect candidate if he were 20 years younger, to which I obviously pointed out that him and Biden are just a year apart.

She was clearly getting frustrated that I kept poking holes in her logic and it finally ended with "well you know I just don't get the warm and fuzzy feeling from Bernie like I do with Biden." So there you have it folks, the mindset of Biden supporters lol.

Oh and also I kept pointing out that Biden cannot string two sentences together anymore when she said Biden is the only one who can defeat Trump, and that Trump would wipe the floor with him in a debate, and she said "she doesn't see it" as far as Biden's mental acuity.

My parents aren't big fans of Biden or Bernie, but they think Bernie has a much better chance at beating Trump than Biden, which is mainly why they would rather have Bernie win the nomination.

My dad says Biden needs to start taking those memory pills if he is gonna be the nominee lol. Why can't more older people think like them

One last thing lol, she said also said that Bernie needs to be trying harder to appeal to her generation and the older African American vote, which I don't necessarily disagree with, and someone much smarter than I i'm sure can figure out how he can do this, because I certainly am at a loss, but I responded back that she personally should be over the moon with Bernie's policies as a T1 diabetic. Older people just don't vote based on policy man and it sucks

there is some truth to this. His favorables are still low enough that he really does need to expand his base. Chances are he needs more people to vote for him this time as he’s not running against a historically unpopular candidate and his margins were so small last time. It’s not so much that Republicans are going to defect, it’s more the expectation that people are going to turn out that didn’t for HRC

  14. Florida seems out of reach for Bernie, I'd rather him go HARD at the rust belt and PA/NY

It's definitely out of reach, but he at the very least needs to be above viability and try and stop it from being a blowout. I mean, we are looking at the 4th most delegate rich state here. He should hold a few rallies there and continue running ads at the very least.

I’ve been saying this for years here to a range of reactions from slight agreement to people laughing at me lol.

a large section of voters (the majority, maybe?) vote for people that make them feel good. They want to like the candidate, want to feel like he would like them, etc. they want someone they can “feel good” about.

I mean just look at the last 5 elections before 2016...the more “likable” personality won every one. And you could make cases for 1992 and 2016 as well (Trump not likable obviously but people absolutely haaaated HRC and Trump was funny and new and saying shit they wanted to hear)

Education should be a right since it is treated as a basic-level requirement for most entry level jobs, and our entire system pushes us towards it - so yeah, a lot of people have to take out loans for bloated education expenses that would be 100 x cheaper 40 years ago.

Also, education should be a right in general, man. Fuck these people.

This part makes sense & is something I agree with, which is why I think both Bernie & senile ol' Joe would have a shot. Hasn't the turnout in these primaries been a lot more than '16? Though, I dunno how '20 primary turnout compares to '16 general turnout.

Still, people outside of the rust belt, which is kinda the most important area, really underestimate how steady his support has been. Like, one person online said he's no longer an outsider, now that he's an incumbent, but the truth is that he's still been able to play up that outsider image very well via rallies, etc.

I'm in PA & would like Bernie to go hard at me, so
