I feel like, as a trans person, I have a very hard time deciding whether it's in my best interest to stay informed on all the terrible shit that people say and do to us, or to just stop paying attention and disconnect completely.

 

The irony of the GOP marching out a gay man at a convention where the party approved the most anti-LGBT+ platform in American history...

I escaped at the best time. I really am hopeful that Roy will beat him...but apparently so many people think I want to check out wangs in the bathroom...holy lol.

Earlier today I overheard a conversation between two co-workers. They're redoing the office space here (needs more cubicles) and the one guy was talking about putting in unisex bathrooms as long as they are gutting everything else. We're a federal contractor so they have to abide by the gender identity stuff. So, cool right? Except for the part where he called it "that solves my transgender problem" ....oh. Problem. Okay.

I've been terrified about how transitioning will affect my career and that was like a brief cool breeze followed by a wet fart.

 

Pope is reminding me why I have negative vibes for the Catholic Church. Dude is just another protector of the order of things

 

Enjoyed watching Caitlyn Jenner on 'Any Given Wednesday' last night...Bill Simmons does a great job with these types of interviews that not everyone else is willing to do. I'm a straight white male that lives in Idaho. Pretty sheltered up here...not many minorities, not a large gay community, and the vast majority are republicans to a sort of extreme (parents included.) I've worked with some pretty diverse people, but it wasn't until a few years ago that I worked very closely with 2 gay men, and 1 gay woman. We all got very close and got to be great friends, and it really opened my eyes to the fact that we are all just people, no matter what differences there are. Love is love, and there is no 'choosing' involved. I had a lot of in depth conversations while getting to know these 3, and I wish that everyone that can't find a way to be happy for others happiness could experience what I did, as it completely validated my views that there should be no separation of rights based on how someone identifies themselves. When I see someone who is transitioning, I want to go up to them and just say 'good for you, be yourself.' The only 'choice' involved is the choice to be yourself without hesitation, but it's society that makes that difficult when it shouldn't be.

 

I hope she can help like she wants to. I don't think any social liberal wants the GOP to stay like this. It would wake up so many people if things changed. it's one of the biggest ways to move forward
