Hold the phone, are you saying Relapse is better than Recovery, MMLP2 and Kamikaze?? To me Relapse is his second worst album, just above Revival.

Recovery and MMLP2 have enough good tracks to be redeemable albums, IMO. Relapse and everything post MMLP2 have nothing I think I ever want to return to. He hasn't made a truly good album since The Eminem Show. Encore is just barely passable IMO.

The Eminem Show is his best album IMO. The first two are obviously iconic album but there's so much on those albums that makes me cringe in present day. Encore is half great, half throwaway. Personally I loved Recovery, but it might be because it always reminds me of where I was in 2010. Only songs from MMLP2 I'd go back to are Rap God and Evil Twin.
Also it seems like I enjoyed Kamikaze more than most on here. It helped that it was a normal length, only 13 tracks. Plus it was massive exposure for the amazing Jesse Reyez.

Half of the Eminem Show is fine to good. The two albums before that are better. They're also not not my cup of tea but I'm not arguing their status. Encore had like two good songs.

His actual first album, Infinite, is his best album, or at least by far his most listenable to me, although it's not the style he would become known for (which helps in my case). The couple of times I listened to it I really enjoyed it.

Yeah, I am. It's a GREAT horrorcore album imo if you're into that genre (super dark/fucked up lyrics), and it has some of his craziest flows ever. That album really got a bad rap imo, I think it was more influential to people like Odd Future than it gets credit for

    I'd rank his albums

    MMLP
    TES
    SSLP
    Relapse
    MTBMB
    MMLP2
    Kamikaze
    Encore
    Recovery
    Revival

I used to like Recovery a lot in the few years after it came out but it has aged like shit imo, it already sounds incredibly outdated. The only one that's outright bad to me is Revival though

I do have a huge soft spot for Em that I don't usually share on this site because he gets so much shit lol but I feel safe to right now

Why do people keep acting like Infinite doesn’t exist lol It’s not even a leak or anything, it’s his real, actually released debut album. Sure the label was indie as fuck but still.

I've actually never heard it lol. I don't think he really claims it as an album does he?

    1. You of all people should listen to it. It’s on Youtube.

    2. I mean, he has talked about how it did not sell and how that almost made him quit. He also credited it with being the reason he made up Slim Shady. He also released a remaster of title track a while ago. It’s an album, no matter how minuscule it was compared to the others.

Hm, I'll check it out at some point if you think it's worth listening to. I always assumed it was kind of just him struggling to get to where he wanted to be as an artist and SSLP was him finding it

He’s there, it’s just a lot more 90s. But I’d say it’s more like post-Infinite early Eminem than current day Eminem is like that Eminem. It’s also just a pretty solid underground 90s rap album.

It’s probably Interscope who touted their first Eminem album as the debut album. Labels still do that. They actually tried to sell Nipsey’s last album that way.

Yeah that's so annoying, So Much Fun was technically Young Thug's debut lol

Well yeah that’s how I feel about any Eminem album worth listening to. I still think an Eminem fan should listen to it.

I know that post made me seem like a massive fan but it's really more like I just don't hate him like most other people on this site do lol, he probably wouldn't even be in the first like 20 rappers I'd put on

Even casual fans though. Put it this way: if you found something to like in his post-Eminem Show albums, I can’t imagine you won’t enjoy Infinite (because it’s better, not because they’re similar). Especially if you like 90s rap, which you do, I think.

Yeah I put it on my list to check out, thanks. I just fully assumed it was like a demo/early release and didn't realize it was well-regarded

Well most people don’t know it, some that do don’t care like Serh, but there definitely is a small Infinite > contingent out there. THERE ARE DOZENS OF US. Overall critically it was pretty well received (though often only once people actually realized it existed years later lol).

@tdlyon Start with the track I posted above and if you don’t see something in it maybe you shouldn’t bother listening to the album. There’s some fast rapping on the album too but still.

Oh yeah I actually remember when he dropped the remastered title track. I'll check the album out

Ha I'm in the same boat.

I listened to Infinite once like 12 years ago. Maybe I should give it another listen.

“It’s OK” is one of my favorite Eminem songs ever and it’s off Infinite.

I like how no one has even bothered making a new album thread for this.

We should make an Infinite thread now

  25. I haven't listened to Eminem in forever, but Infinite is cool and I liked Relapse more than anything that came after it. Still haven't listened to the new album and probably won't.
