James Mangold Reportedly Taking Over Indiana Jones 5 From Steven Spielberg

 

Think he can pull it off, especially with Spielberg still on as producer

Wow. This is the one thing I never thought Spielberg would give up.

 

he did great things (well, decent and THEN great) with wolverine following x-men origins, i can see how he could un-fuck up indy

 

never thought i'd see this news. it not happening at all, sure, but spielberg not doing it and it still happening, nope haha. but i could be into it. i love this character so i'll certainly always be interested in what else they do

Mangold taking on a big franchise movie could be interesting, while Spielberg doing something else might also be more interesting.

Honestly, I think we need to wrap this one up.

Harrison isn't getting any younger, and it feels like the main reason to do this would be to "redeem" Crystal Skull.

Unless they're gonna Bond the role to someone else, I'm all for Lucasfilm developing something brand new instead.

 

I did not think this was something that Spielberg would pass on. But honestly, I'm a little more interested in it now.

Ford and Kennedy have already stated that Ford IS Indiana Jones and no one will replace him. Once he goes, Indiana Jones goes. There could, however, be a new character in the universe that takes Jones' role in fighting treasure hunters, especially if after Indiana 5 they decide to jump to present day.

 

Bring Shia back

 

I’d love to see Shia’s ongoing redemption to include this franchise. It could be his blockbuster he returns to in between “artsier” movies.
