My whole issue with this is they sold tickets with ONLY Metallica announced, that is when myself and a lot of others purchased the tickets. So if they did drop, I kind of feel slighted because the full lineup wasn't announced until well after ticket prices have went up/

Tool just announced new spring dates. Toledo is on there. Seems strange they’d be able to play Toledo and Columbus with the radius clause.

The gap between 5/5 and 5/29 is interesting since that's when Rockville and Sonic Temple are. Though if they're on Rockville, it might not be announced right away with other Florida shows happening in April.

Could really do without Leftover Crack ever playing with the Bouncing Souls again but... Really great seeing Pkew Pkew Pkew on the road with them!

FWIW too, those shows from May 15th-17th were originally announced as triple co-headliners with Lagwagon and Less Than Jake. Those were announced and then pulled back. If I recall those were Worcester, MA: New Jersey; and one other location. These dates line-up with those.

This pretty much rules out Tool to replace Metallica at Epicenter if the rumors are true. 5/3 is open, but with the radius clause and distance between shows, looks like it’ll be someone else. Also worth noting that Slipknot plays in Charlotte in June; that takes away another possibility.

    A Note from James
    Feb 24, 2020

    Dear Metallica Family,

It pains me to write this, but I have to let all of you know that I cannot make it to Sonic Temple in Columbus and Louder Than Life in Louisville this year. As part of my continuing effort to get and stay healthy, I have critical recovery events on those weekends that cannot be moved. I apologize to all of our fans who have bought tickets for these festivals. We are working with the festival promoters to provide for refunds or exchanges. My intent with this statement is saying “I apologize” to each one of you. The reality is that I have not prioritized my health in the past year of touring and I now know that my mental health comes first. That might sound like a no-brainer for most of you but I didn’t want to let the Metallica team/family down and, I alone, completely compromised myself.

Looking on the brighter side, my therapy is going well. It was absolutely necessary for me to look after my mental, physical, and spiritual health.

I want to stress that the band will play all other announced 2020 shows.

I am looking forward to getting back to playing and seeing all our great South American fans in April. And, of course, playing Epicenter in Charlotte, Welcome to Rockville in Daytona and Aftershock in Sacramento. We will still play two unique sets at each of these festivals.

Beyond 2020, I am optimistic about the blessings I have been given and what the future brings. I appreciate all the great prayers and support from everyone since I went into rehab last September. Like the moth into the flame, being human in this career has its huge challenges and can be difficult. Your understanding helps the healing.

    - James

Thanks to Tool and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who have graciously offered to step in for us at Sonic Temple; Louder Than Life headliners will be announced at a later date. Sonic Temple and Louder Than Life pass holders who would like to exchange their passes to see Metallica at another Danny Wimmer Presents festival, or would like to receive a refund, will be able to do so starting this Friday, February 28th. An email will be sent out to purchasers from Front Gate Ticketing on Friday at 10:00AM EST with complete exchange and refund details. For more information, visit dannywimmerpresents.com.

    idk man

Chris Motionless just confirmed a spring tour. What bands do you think they will be touring with?

My first guess is Crown the Empire, they don't have a lot going on right now except for a few festivals in the same time period.

It'd be cool if they opened for BMTH around festival season. A run with Ghostmane would unlikely but also cool.

Crappy situation, but at least refunds are being offered. Wimmer has done some really really slimey things before and I was really skeptical he was gonna do the right thing.

I think some of the Portland promoters have gotten smart and have bumped their radius clauses up to 150 miles which takes Eugene out of the picture and doesn't leave a lot of places to fit in a stop before the longish trek to the NorCal markets.
