Also one aspect of it is people just act like there are ample opportunities to try new foods as an adult
The truth is that I just genuinely don’t have the money to be spending on things that I’m not sure that I’ll like or eat. So you end up just spending money on things you know are safe bets because you gotta eat

Like I don’t know how to cook really and I’m not at a place where if I tried to cook something new and fucked it up, I would be able to just laugh it off and get takeout. Or the alternative is going out to dinner where you assume the person knows how to prepare it, but it’s more expensive and more of a risk if it’s terrible
