I’ve lost track of how many foods I did that with. Going from an incredibly picky eater who puked at just the thought of certain foods to someone who likes almost everything has been quite a journey in my life. Raw tomatoes is probably the biggest change. If I could go back and tell my child self that I get sad when there aren’t tomatoes in the house for sandwiches and that I’ll order extra at fast food places I would not believe I was actually me.

 

Could thing you clarified I would have otherwise assumed it was a sex thing

When I was a kid all I ate were plain Cheerios, PB&J, McDonald's chicken nuggets, white rice, and pasta with butter. I didn't even like mac and cheese. It's pretty wild to think about how ridiculously picky I was back then.

 

Facts. Though I do wonder where they come from. Like I imagine the whole onion is fried at one time in that shape so idk where these loose pedals are coming from. Thoughts?

That’s my philosophy

but ultimately it’s pretty mind blowing to me to force yourself to eat things you don’t like. There are two different types of not liking things for me.
1- not ever having it but just can tell I won’t like it (this is only correct like 60% of the time tho which is why I try to try most things now)
2- Ive tried it and didn’t like it

like if a food is not enjoyable to me it’s most likely cause of the texture and makes me want to gag so I really truly don’t see how forcing myself to eat it would result in me magically liking it. Hard to wrap my brain around this concept.

The one thing idk if I could convince myself to like is blood sausage. I tried that stuff in Argentina and, while it didn't taste bad, it was pretty much impossible to get over what it was while I was eating it lol

I am still pretty picky when it comes to stuff like this. Like lots of canned vegetables or super processed deli meats and other dishes with terrible textures still make me want to gag immediately, but that’s all about the preparation and not the ingredients themselves.
