I feel that. Shane has a very recognizable vocal style and melodic structure. It's unmistakable.

  5. Forget everything I said about Dead Reflection, I like it now. Idk why it's all clicking +12 years after I found out about them, but I think they're suddenly becoming one of my favorite post-hardcore bands? I've not heard and don't intend to seek out anything about this one besides the first single, so I'm anxiously waiting for the release.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

It always feels so disingenuous when a band lists their newest as their best

A little, but It makes sense though. I’ll quote JT of Hawthorne Heights here:

“You personally feel like it’s your best, and why wouldn’t you? If you’re making an album, you only put it out if you love it and feel like it’s your best work; no one goes ‘eh this is alright it’s ok check it out’. You in that moment say ‘this is the best I’ve ever done! I love it!’ Because if not why bother releasing it? Will it stand the test of time and still feel that way a year from now? Who knows”

If your new album isn't your favorite album you've ever made you should quit.

It'll have to be a hell of an album to be their best.

For some reason I was thinking it wasn't as good as their other recent albums, I must have been distracted by other music or something at that time, listened to it today and it's great. Think Wind Shifts is still my fave but it's def up there

“Our records, over the years, have taken natural progressions, natural steps from one to another. I think if you take Album #8 and Album #1, people might hear them and say, Oh my God, this isn’t even the same band. But if you look from #2 to #3 to #4, it kind of makes sense. With the new record, we took the biggest step of our career. There were things on this record that were crazy for me, to wrap my head around having been an artist for so long. Things that make me say, Wait a minute, we don’t do that! We don’t use synth! We don’t use midi drums! And it took me a minute to say, Well, why don’t we? It’s like you’re trying to make dinner for somebody, and you’re saying, We don’t use salt.

“We’ve been holding back — for what? Because these are tools we can’t use for some reason? Because emo bands in the ‘90s didn’t use them, so we can’t? And I think once we got over that, we decided we were going to do what the song called for. And once the floodgates opened, we made some incredible songs, songs that speak to us so much more than anything we’ve done before, and that will speak to our fans. I don’t think everybody’s going to understand this record right away when it comes out because it is different, but I think it’s absolutely our best album.”

    Hell yeah, that sounds dope!

When you remember that Arrivals came out after Waterfront it’s a pretty big wtf happened moment haha purely from a production standpoint the difference is huge.

My favorites are probably Wind and Dead Reflection. The new songs are amazing too. Can’t stop listening to them.

    Rescue

    I am alive
    When broken
    Short songs

Thought I’d put short songs higher but I’ve been listening to Broken more than usual and it’s got more all time favs than SS, even if SS is “better” in many regards. I think I Am Alive feels to me like Rescue does to Shane and others. If there’s a phoned in Silverstein album I think it’s that one. And the cover does it no favors.

I feel like there’s a really strong consensus of what the best 4 are and then everything within that group and outside that group is unpredictable
