We reach for the longest shadow

I'm sure I've said this before, but I really think White Pony might be their *best* album, but I enjoy listening to Koi No Yokan the most. I feel like Diamond Eyes is great, but it's a comeback album in the sense that the band were just getting their feet wet again after Eros and the tragedy with Chi. Koi No Yokan seems like such a step up in every way for me.

It was more of a joke than anything, because that song is unreal and IMO it's better than anything on SNW at the very least.

I think Rosemary is a top five Deftones song, but I think KNY also has a couple of their weakest songs and I think KNY is just inconsistent in quality. I love a lot of parts of that album, but not a lot of songs. Rosemary, Entombed, Tempest, and What Happened To You are all great songs, but everything else kinda just feels like your run of the mill Deftones songs

idk who Poppy is, but a Deftones/Gojira tour would mean everything to me

    hmmm

I listened to their cover of Drive after SNW was discussed yesterday and now I'm going through all their covers again.

I honestly think they have like five covers that are better than the originals.

If I could just forget it

Everyone I talk to has a different favorite album, and it usually coincides with when they got into the band. That's a testament to the quality and impact of their music.

good point. I got into them with White Pony, but the self titled album was out. moved to ATF i think before I got into self titled. SNW was the first rollout i was around for.

If I could just forget it

I've wavered over the years but I usually settle on Around the Fur. I heard My Own Summer on the radio when I was 12 and it floored me. I had never heard anything like it and I begged for the CD for Christmas. My mom got it for me but she put a piece of construction paper over the cover because of my younger siblings haha.

That’s an awesome story. I was given a copy of White Pony from one of my older brother’s friends, and it rocked my world. Had only listened to alternative radio rock to that point, creed, default, audioslave, etc. I didn’t like it at first but kept listening and eventually it clicked. Passenger kept me coming back. Used to listen to that one on repeat. After I bought self titled I think my mom took it away for awhile because of the explicit lyrics in the lyric sheet, haha.

EDIT: come to think of it, that was probably the turning point for me for all music that I’ve listened to afterwards. The first time I had to actively *get* something, and then truly loving it later on.
