I liked this much more than I expected to! The last two singles are pretty clearly my weak links

"Oh Yeah" is definitely the weak point.

I like this, but I’m not really into Teenager or Stab You in the Heart and for such a quick record, two misses is pretty noticeable. This still sounds like their most inspired work since 21CB, though

I'm excited to listen to this tomorrow. Also, I thought people liked Rev Rad? It was their best since AI imo (granted that's not really hard to do)

FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

Probably half the record I have no desire to hear again

Sugar Youth and Roof are decent

I thought Teenager was a bottom ten GD track at first but then I remembered the trilogy

Better than the trilogy overall, and I expected worse tbh. Nowhere near better than Rev Rad. Beat my expectations though. Slightly

    hmmm

    First and last listen.

This is fucking shit. The pits. Your expectations would have to be down on the precipice of hell to be talking positively about it.

Sugar Youth is fine. That's it.

I'm going to listen to Dookie, Insomniac and Nimrod this weekend and forget that this band existed post American Idiot.

This is unbelievably bad. I can't believe the band who put out Insomniac, Dookie, AI, etc have put out this fucking garbage.

My expectations were high and I love it. My standards are also far from low. I've listened to this album 3 times today, and many times the days prior.

This was enjoyable! Don't know how often I will return to it but it's the first album by them that I managed to listen through since 21CB.

My opinion has actually gone down a tad after listening to it again. Junkies On a High and Graffitia are probably the only 2 tracks I would revisit regularly. Singles are still bad. The rest is just meh. Hopefully we get another record sooner rather than later now that they are off the label.

Nobody likes Teenager? Got half way through on my ride to work and that one was a highlight.

The album is not bad, but not great as well. The riffs are so repetitive, but on the other hand you can recognise that you are listening to Green Day. The Hives vibes - the best part of the album.
Maybe I will like it more after a couple of spins.

Meet Me on the Roof/Teenage Teenager/Stab You is awful. I like everything else now

  18. I liked Revolution Radio but this is absolute dogshit. The trilogy could at least be made into a decent album with lots of cutting and sequence work but this is unsalvageable.

This was ok on my ride into work. I'll give it a few more listens before deciding how I feel about it.

I just don't know what possessed them to take this path musically. Like what could possibly have made them think this is where they needed to go post-RR? Or that this is where anyone wanted them to go post-RR? RR was praised precisely because it felt like such a return-to-form after the trilogy.

And I don't even hate this, either. Like it's not great but it's not pure garbage either. There's good stuff on here. I'm just so confused by this record.

I mean, it's pretty clearly where they wanted to go, especially if you read that post from Butch. It sounds like they had an absolute blast making it, so good for them.

Right, and like I asked, what could have possibly made them think it’s where they needed to go? Very confused by that.

I don't think they need another reason than "it's what we want to do". Talking about wanting, not needing.

Whether you personally think they need a reason or not, somewhere along the way they had one. Just wondering about what that could’ve been and coming up with no answers.
