A recanvas is basically a recount, but ... less. Recount = through a court system. Recanvas = local election authorities.

 

Release the last 3%. Admit there's errors, but they're not substantial to change the outcome. Call it the delegate tie that I'm confident it is, say Bernie won the most votes, and let's move on to be honest.

Heh. It looks to me like Iowa and NH could be certified back to back next week leading to a fantastic "Bernie wins!" story that gives him the first two states, all the cash, and all the momentum.

Do we? I think we absolutely need a woman on the ticket. I think you also need someone a bit more establishmenty to help calm the nerves of the centerists (so while Biden/Abrams is an obvious choice, I worry about about how Sanders/Abrams would perform). Check all three of those boxes and your options are unfortunately quite limited.

Barbara Lee fits the bill, but that would be two 70+ people on the ticket which is its own cause for concern.

Harris I'm not sure Bernie would want as a VP. Maybe he'd be willing to take her as part of a compromise to win a brokered convention but I think it would annoy his base a lot.

Duckworth works, but she's further to the right than Baldwin so could run into some of the same resistance Harris gets.

I'm just not sold that we need a POC on the ticket. Sanders will have a diverse cabinet regardless. Are there really that many people who'd only vote for him if he has a POC VP??

 

Also, I've looked at a lot of these sheets ... and ... uh ... I don't think a recanvass is going to fix it. Some of these are just filled out wrong (hurting all different candidates!) because of human error. And you can't reproduce people standing in a gym again and someone leaving for a bathroom break and losing viability during that moment (happened to Warren).

So, this is probably a dumb thing to do, but gives the illusion of ... I dunno? something?
