An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

so from the bandcamp description it's like a jam-based, synthy record - largely instrumental. sounds cool but we're not going full Sufjan here whatever that means

It's part of the Sujan Extended Universe, along with Planetarium, his ballet stuff, The BQE, etc. At least that's how I see it.

Aw. I was hoping it was a real full Sufjan record. Not another cool instrumental collection.

well, if this song is any indication... it's another Sufjan-adjacent project that's not quite for me :/

I dig it, but I am definitely let down that it’s not a new full Sufjan album (since this seems to be way more instrumental).

I like to think the reason he hasn’t released a proper album in so long is because he’s been working on albums for the 48 other states he hasn’t written about and they’re all going to come out on the same day.

I rank my Sufjan albums in twos (except my bottom three which are well below my top six):

    1. Illinois / Carrie & Lowell

    3. Seven Swans / All Delighted People

    5. Michigan / The Age of Adz

    7. Planetarium

    8. Enjoy Your Rabbit

    9. A Sun Came

@Lucas27 I've never tried to rank Sufjan's albums but if I did it would be exactly your 1-7. I think I've listened to Enjoy Your Rabbit and A Sun Came maybe once each.

That makes sense, I wouldn't expect Lowell and him to tour on an album made from jam sessions where they only are releasing 10% of what they made, lol

I’ll never argue with a person who puts Adz at the top of their list. It’s a work of mad genius.

That said, I’d always argue with a person who puts Carrie & Lowell at #5, so I don’t know where that leaves us @irthesteve.
