And none of those situations are remotely comparable given all of the other things we've learned about this process/the app/the app developers. Amy doesn't have a chance at winning this so that isn't relevant either. I've been following elections since I was 14 so idk maybe you're the one who needs to take a look back and see if there has ever been this kind of bizarre situation before. The technology for something like this to be possible has never even existed/been used before. Trying to compare candidate spin over early returns in a primary that is proceeding in an orderly fashion to what is going on here is pretty disingenuous.

And yeah his press coverage up to now has been positive, but if the early results vindicate that decision you'll see the MSM flock back to his side as fast as humanly possible.

Bringing up the internal numbers Bernie released is also irrelevant because nobody is going to take seriously internal numbers proffered by one of the candidates.

  3. I think what I'm nervous about right is now is just...headlines. This is right before evening news / SOTU - 50% of the results come out and let's say it says Pete is at #1 with those results. That's the headline. That's the chyron. Maybe by tomorrow morning, it becomes clear that Bernie does end up at #1, but by then people have moved on to caring about other things. I know that we don't get ALL of the results at once, but again, the way all of this has rolled out paired with SOTU and impeachment is just shitty.

Exxxxxxactly. At this rate, news of Bernie winning (if he does) could drop literally as the impeachment vote is happening.

  5. What are you talking about? First, yes this technology has been used before. Do you not think campaigns were using technology to tally votes in caucuses until this year? And there's been way more bizarre situations!

What? lol. They got taken more seriously than Pete's "I win!" dance. His numbers are going to be very close to the final results, because campaigns take internal tallies and all this shit happens in public. You can stand in a gym and compile the results. There's spreadsheets online right now that have a good chunk of stuff crowdsourced from people doing just that.

  6. If that's the case this is good for Bernie. Because Pete needed a huge win and a huge bump to even make it getting his ass kicked in the rest of the states. And in your scenario, he won't get anything near that from your "worst case scenario." Any boomerang from the win, or perceived win, is dulled already. The person that helps is the person who didn't even need this win, and is going to win NH, Bernie Sanders.

Bernie email says with 60% of the vote in from their internal results they have a "comfortable lead".

I'm 100% sure campaigns have been using this tech before. Campaigns. This is the first time it's being used in a caucus like this.

And I'd love to hear about these comparable situations because my brain literally can't come up with an analogy for a situation where one of the candidates paid money to a firm that was designing a secret counting/reporting app to be used for the first time in the critical first caucus of the year, and that firm also is headed up by a supporter of the candidate whose husband is an official candidate campaign adviser, and who is staffed by a lot of former fulltime staffers of the previous party nominee who despises one of the current top candidates, and then everything that possibly could go wrong does go wrong to the point that the results are being released piecemeal rather than together, and also the candidate who has the support of the firm declares victory prematurely.

Literally the first tweet posted in this thread about Bernie's results made it a point to say they might not be trustworth because they're from a biased source lol

I wish I was hopeful enough to not find anything at all fishy about this situation, I really do.

The fact that this app was created in just three months and released with no documentation, real testing or training, paid for by what amounts to investment capital is just another in a long line of indictments against tech startup culture.

Developers have been under enormous crunch to have quick turnaround because their companys are usually newly founded with venture capital and need to constantly be churning through new clients and projects before reserves dry up. Many companies flame out within 2 to 3 years.

Because of the tech boom demand many of these devs are new to programming, either from college or from a career switch using things like coding schools (which I did). In both cases, cheap inexperienced programmers think they will be learning on the job but end up at startups in positions they aren't prepared for. I saw an article about Shadow listing screenshots of LinkedIn employee roles, the majority were Junior Developers (0-4 years exp). Speaking for myself as someone that worked at a startup, the crunch that it took to learn, plan and implement, scaled to the number of juniors being worked with led to many slow downs and delays. Usually the first thing that fell by the wayside was any testing or review of code. Does it seem to work? Release, we'll fix bugs later.

I don't know when things will change since the illusion of money flows so freely in tech, this keeps happening. I feel for the devs that made this, I've released garbage apps myself. In this instance, for an app so important, it's ridiculous that a startup got this contract over any company with an established record. The timeframe was absolutely ridiculous, and Shadow should be ashamed of themselves (though looking at their leadership, they will continue to fail upward)

Hate to say it but I agree with Biden. No results until they’re all ready.

  24. So did Gillibrand. They do canvasing apps (like those text messages we all love to receive) and backend tech.

It seems so far that he's mainly directed all his ads at Trump and not the other candidates
