can i ask a serious question without getting shit on?

why do people like this band? it’s really strange to me that thousands upon thousands of people are rushing to see a band that sings about shooting themselves in the head. i understand a band like fall out boy because their music is accessible to the average listener but i feel like people caring this much about my chemical romance is some alternate universe scenario. so if anyone wants to get into detail and explain this maybe my head will stop hurting.

I wouldn't. Botch was always supposed to be more intense and in your face. I've seen Botch from several feet away. Seeing them in an arena setting would make it way less special.

With that said, i'd love to see a Botch reunion but I honestly think we have a better chance of seeing Minus The Bear again before we see Botch.

Why do people like any band?

The answer, mayhaps, lies in the music

I'd say its different for everyone, but I'd also say they are much more than a band that 'sings about shooting themselves in the head'. MCR catered to many bc they were the outcasts who made it and stayed themselves throughout their massive growth. They tell stories, they're theatrical about it, and on top of all that....they know how to write some great rock songs.

Personally, I've always been drawn to how theatrical they get with their art/music. That's difficult to do deliver and build upon. They successfully do it to a point where they disappeared for 6 years and come back selling out an arena tour.

If RATM announce an arena tour that is only 18 dates, it'll sell just as fast. But odds are they're gonna announce baseball stadium shows, or at the very least multiple nights at an arena per city.

As for the ignorant question as to why people like this band......aside from the fact that they're actually great, they also were the most popular/successful band from an era of music that, despite nothing having the longest moment in the sun (lets say 2004 to 2008), still holds a special place in the memories of a lot of adults. There's a reason why you see Emo Nites popping up everywhere and not Nu Metal Nites (or whatever genre you'd throw bands from the Limp Bizkit/Korn era in).

My Chemical Romance were the Beatles of the emo generation, just like Blink 182 were the Beatles of the pop punk generation. And please don't twist my words and insinuate that I actually think MCR and Blink are on the same pedestal as the Beatles, you know what I'm trying to say lol

that being said, I'd totally get drunk and throw down at a nu-metal Limp Bizkit night

If you seriously think they’re about “shooting themselves in the head”, you need to get your head checked. Sounds like you’re referring to that one lyric from Headfirst for Halos (“and I think I’ll blow my brains against the ceiling”) which is a song about OVERCOMING suicidal thoughts. I could write a whole thesis about why people like this band, but if that right there isn’t enough of an indicator why people relate to them, it’s probably not worth my time. The short version? People are fucked up. My Chem gave people hope. And they still do 18 years later.
