I think one thing people (and myself is very much included in this) need to remember is that a lot of the secondary market prices will most likely calm down when people aren’t sitting in a panic like we all were today.

 

Yep. Plus some bands will purchase resale tickets from flippers/etc. and list them on Ticketmaster again. The dates are spread out enough they can also add more dates if they want to.

 

These guys just sold out an arena tour like it was nothing. They somehow got bigger while being broken up. Absolutely amazing. Breaking up was probably the best thing for them. Good for them.

It’s crazy to me that Gerard saw the twin towers fall on 9/11 and said he wanted to change the world, so he started the band. And now they’re selling out arenas around the world in hours.

 

Which begs the question: could they sell a million albums first week if they put out a new record?

 

I always knew they would be this big if they ever came back. Now we just have to wait and see if they stick the landing with the release of new music.

 

I am rooting for it.

 

So is it Ticketmaster themselves who have created verified resale tickets at insane prices? Or companies they're partnered with?

Because for me..the Transfer and Sell buttons are *still* greyed out

 

Verified Resale tickets should be by real fans-- sometimes it takes awhile for the "sell" button to pop up for some users

 

I believe Ticketmaster keeps/~sells themselves~ a certain number of tickets they can resell at a dumb price.

Yeah, the ticket companies are the only ones who are able to resale. In Houston the tickets aren’t transferable and they won’t be in our account until 3 days before the show

 

Ticket masters entire process is built on building a fake panic in people wanting to buy tickets hoping you impulse buy some secondary market ticket (that comes from themselves, so they keep all the money) out of panic without realizing. This is why they throw you in a queue and say thousands of people are in front of you and why they don’t advertise difference a normal ticket and ticket master platinum (secondary market tickets)

 

TM is scum of the earth and deserve to be taken to court and burnt to the ground

 

It's very weird since I had my tickets probably by 12:15 at the latest, and yet these resales went up pretty darn soon after. Thinking the other two posters might be right that TM themselves bought and resold them, but who knows

 

They also hold back like 40% of tickets so when you get through the queue it looks more sold out than it is

 

There’s a decent amount of investigations out there from news papers on the shitty and corrupt processes that go on at TM. Sadly nothing is ever done about it

 

what other reunion would do numbers like this? oasis feels like the only real answer

It really sucks to have to wait for it anyway, but yeah, the prices will go down.

 

There were tickets available to purchase on Stubhub last night before they even went on sale. Like the other poster said, it’s all about creating a panic. There were resale tickets available as I was in the waiting room to purchase regular tickets at noon.

 

We're closer to last years September than this years September when the Boston show is and that makes me sad.
