I used to watch football with my family when I was younger so like I would be able to keep up lol but now I hate football so much and the culture and toxic masculinity behind it that I can’t even watch without being grossed out now lol whoops

Yeah and the whole CTE thing and as silly as it sounds the Aaron Hernandez doc opened my eyes a lot to how the system churns out young boys and destroys their bodies and exploits them etc etc of course many of them end of being abusers but I still have a lot of empathy for the system that got them there

 

The overreaction you get from people when you say you don't enjoy watching sports is ridiculous

 

I fucking love it when people try and get woke about football. Like fuck x team or y player and it’s just like...these people are all beating the shit out of each into an early grave the whole things is so obviously evil and insidious

honestly, if it weren't for fantasy football i probably wouldnt be nearly as invested in the NFL as i am these days, because i agree completely that it's become a disgusting pit of abuse, hiding abuse, and racism. NFL priorities are so fucking backwards in terms of what folks get real punishments for. Fantasy football and getting together to watch the games helps keep me connected with a lot of my friends so, i keep investment in it for the social aspect.

 

Oh for sure if one person gets brain damage reevaluate whether to still play let alone literally every player

Like honestly the sport is so woven into our culture that’s what sucks the most. Because there are so many good things that can come of it, as you described. But that’s what makes it even more sad imo
