Digging this, I really like that version of Lilacs, especially when the guitars kick in at the end. Danielle’s vocals really work well on these tracks too.

Yo this reminds me of TREOS' take on post-hardcore but its very much its own thing at the same time. I'm super stoked to hear more, adding this to my fave EPs of the year. Hope to see y'all live, if you need to place to crash on tour in STL hit me up and I can host you guys.

Hi everyone! Thought I would make a post here. I have been quite on Chorus Fm for a little bit. My job takes a majority of my free time now unfortunately.

Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed (A)drift. It's a bit of a different direction for us, but I think it is pretty cool. I apologize it took us so long. We seemed to have setbacks with this one over and over.

Some cool things worth mentioning. (Let's get nerdy)

We were originally going to call this record Resistance. The last record was called Existence. After a considerable amount of time stewing on it, I thought it was too gimmicky and we scrapped it. We called it (A)drift because we liked how that could be interpreted. Adrift can be thought of as a vessel lost at sea, or even as a driving maneuver where the driver of a car intentionally steers too much to bank a hard corner at high speeds. lol Bear with me, it will make sense.

All these songs were written in the order that they are placed on the EP. We wrote one and then looked at where we wanted the EP to go next and wrote the next song. This was a new process for us because we generally just write songs and think about the order later when recording is done. I think most bands do it this way, but I could be wrong. This really helped us sorta create this world we were wanting to write about. With this release, we had a linear connection with the whole thing, which we never have had previously. With this release wanted to have the songs flow in and out of each other really well. We wanted to make it so that the listening experience was different than anything we had done before.

The first track (Going out of Focus..) is actually remnants of the last track from Existence, Closing Remarks. We reversed the audio from Closing Remarks and placed an audio recording of a psychic medium speaking with who we believe is a family member of mine who has passed on to the other side. O:-) This is meant to bridge the two releases, Existence to (A)drift. We thought it would be cool for people to be able to listen to Existence and jump right into (A)drift seamlessly.

Please make your ascent (AND GO AWAY) Is actually two songs that we ended up keeping as one song. Part one is ends at the 1:23 mark, and part two starts at 1:24 mark. This song is about God walking into a bar and buying a drink for me. The song is about a conversation that unfolds. The song structure is interesting because none of the parts ever actually repeat or meet again. We thought it would be cool to make it so that each part had it's own moment to build and help it eventually unfold.

Asleep At The Wheel is the first single we released from this EP. This song is where the EP really started to take shape for me lyrically. We were pissed off at the things we were seeing happen in the United States back in 2019. We wanted to take a stand here to really drive the message that we are losing control of the vessel and it is about to drive into the median and kill us all.

Remember what you felt and (A)drift are technically one song that we split into two songs. If you listen carefully you can hear the end riff that Brad plays on RWYF at the 6:00 mark on the beginning of (A)Drift. We also mention and use some of the lyrics from existence on RWYF. This was done intentionally cause I love when bands do that. AGain, we wanted to have it rooted in our last release, but still be something new.

Lyrically, the song (A)Drift is a collection of things we were talking about during the process of tracking. This song is supposed to be the "Ah Ha" moment of the EP, which re-addresses the issues that are discussed on the first 4 songs of the EP. This is the moment where everything crosses paths and collects for a few moments.

Stay Forever If You Can is the last song on the EP. It also is two songs we ended up keeping as one. Part one ends at the 2:28 mark. Part two starts at the 2:29 mark. It is meant to be the "way forward and out moment" of the EP. The narration in the background of the beginning of the song is a lecture from Joseph Campbell discussing the reconciliation mankind must make to the foundations of its own existence (Another connection to our record Existence) in order to proceed forward in the universe that is constantly changing and growing. For part two, lyrically it was driven by what we were seeing in the U.S. with the rise of authoritarianism and white nationalism during that time(2019/2020) and their fucked up agenda to marginalize and deny people's existence and basic human rights. Existence is Resistance and we felt that we were counting coup.

When we finished tracking everything as far the instruments go, the pandemic has just shut down everything including our jam space where we were recording. I ended up recording a majority of the vocals at home in my little project studio. We then emailed back and forth with our guy until we had what we thought was completed versions of each song.

IMO This was the most difficult one to make, start to finish.
I am stoked it finally made it off my list of things to do and onto streaming services. Everything is linear with this one. Everything is connected.
    B-)
