Sounds like Bernie's speech isn't going over well with some of his supporters.

In many many areas I would say. The only things Bernie and Trump agree on are the things you said. But Bernie and Hillary do agree on most major issues. The difference is that Bernie tends to want to go much further on these issues with bigger plans. They agree on combating climate change, meanwhile you have Trump who thinks it is a hoax. They agree on getting universal healthcare, they just differ in how to get it. They both want affordable college. On social issues they are quite similar. They both want gun control, they both want campaign finance reform, they both want higher taxes for the wealthiest people. None of these things are a part of Trump's campaign, in fact, he wants the opposite of many of these things. Don't get me wrong, as a Bernie supporter, there are lots of things I disagree with Clinton on, but the fact that there are Bernie supporters who say Trump would be better just baffles me and makes no sense.

They were just interviewing a Bernie supporter protesting in philly on MSNBC and she said she would rather have Trump than Hillary, which I find crazy. I don't want either, but how one can want Trump is just crazy to me.

Because while saying they're all entitled white men is inaccurate a lot are, I can understand them being inflexible to an extent though

Edit idiot isn't the word I'd use, obnoxious maybe

I work with a lot of well-educated women that are saying the exact same thing. Many of them were Bernie supporters and for the most part are going to vote for Trump. They have this passionate hatred for Hillary that wouldn't be swayed by anything.

I mean, a few people in this thread have been alluding to this. At least he was to-the-point about it.

to be fair, usually when someone calls bernie supporters stupid/stubborn/babies/whatever, they're pretty stupid themselves.

Say what you will about those who are opting for Trump, it isn't illogical to want something better than the choices one is given, particularly if it comes to light that the cards are stacked against the candidate who wanted to change the status quo. Idiocy it is not, it is anger at the flippancy with which their desires are treated. What Hillary and the DNC have been doing over these past few months is exactly the sort of behaviour that compels people to lash out or stay home. One can't rig the game, then be angry that people refuse to play because, well, Trump.

He deserves every single backlash from his followers after suggesting they vote for Clinton, imo. He was literally telling them why not to vote for her just a month ago.

You can want something better than the choices you are given, and still take the one of the choices because its better for the country. Stay angry at Clinton, but channel that anger into down ballot races and building infrastructure so next time around you can get someone better nominated. But ultimately, the people who be the worst effected if Clinton isn't elected aren't the one's responsible for Clinton's action.

While also saying Clinton was better than Trump...

also I love how when people pointed out that there is no way many of Sanders platform pieces could pass congress, people argued that he would be able to find compromises. But then when he compromises by saying Clinton is better than Trump suddenly he's betrayed everything he stands for...

  19. I may be wrong about this so if anyone can point to some old posts that prove me wrong here, please do. But -- I know that this thread has plenty of anti-Clinton posters. I don't think anyone in here as been making specific attacks against her supporters. Plenty of attacks against Clinton but I think we've been respectful to anyone who's said that they support her. I would like to see the same respect shown to people that are #stillsanders.

It's almost like he accepted the loss and is doing what's best, given the current situation. Millennials have a hard time doing that. Myself included.

  21. I don't disagree that people should be respectful to one another but - granted, I haven't had the time to pay close attention these past couple weeks - I'm not sure there are enough Clinton supporters actually speaking up in here for it to be a fair comparison.

If the #stillsanders crowd spoke up more about #nottrump then it'd be better. Instead they're all #hillaryisthewooooooorst

  23. This is the crux of it. Voting for Trump because Bernie is no longer an option is like cutting off your nose to spite your face. I understand the anger, but given the sway the next prez will have (especially over the Supreme Court) this is not the time or the place to take it as far as choosing a President Trump.
