Stuff I've been into this year: Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Be'lakor, Bombs of Hades, Destroyer 666, Ripper, Gorguts, Lycus, Obscura, Vektor, Chthe'ilist.

Still working on: Dark Funeral, Darkestrah, Abnormality, Aborted, Deceptionist, Gojira, Grave Miasma, Inter Arma, Lord Mantis.

Just got the new Revocation so I'll be spinning that for a bit.

Liking this atm. From Dream Theater "The Astonishing". The guitar riffs are amazing.

The new Despised Icon album is decent. It probably should have come out 5 years ago though.

New Revocation is unsurprisingly excellent. Still need to listen to the new Black Crown Initiate and Despised Icon though.

Think my favorite metal release from the year is the Cult of Luna/Julie Christmas collaboration. Either that or the new Nails record. I've got some catching up to do, though. Still haven't heard all of that Vektor record and I need to buy the new Black Tusk.

whitechapel always has a bad rep for being a "hot topic" metal band or whatever. The album they just put out is astoundingly heavy.

the new Despised Icon deserves a spin. Jumped into one of my top albums for the year. They're drifting closer to the grind/powerviolence spectrum, less of the deathcore. Reviews are mixed so far but I'm really liking it.

This is a band I'd actually like to see work with Kurt Ballou.

    a literal succubitch

Shadow Of Intent's release holds the number one spot currently and has done so since it came out early this year. You all should listen to it if you haven't, because this shit is phenomenal. So fucking good.

Other than that, releases I've greatly enjoyed have been Nails, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Destroyer 666 (KK Warslut can fuck himself though), Primal Fear, Aborted, Xenomorphic Contamination, Whispered, Katalepsy, CABAL, Vulvodynia, Winterhymn, and Within Destruction.

did not know this band - playing it now and it's pretty sick so far

black, death, doom - real cool

the solos remind me of Morbid Angel and the bm riffing kind of a simpler more straight fwd DsO

Nails, Deftones, Kvelertak and Architects have been the main ones I've listened to. The Rotten Sound and Broken Teeth albums seem pretty good but I haven't listened to them much. The new Killswitch is alright as well. Still need to listen to the Sumac and Cult of Luna albums.

So excited to see Cobalt live in September. I'm interested to see if they're going to play only stuff from Slow Forever or dip into their back catalog at all. I'd be stoked to hear anything from Gin.
