watched Hausu this morning and was blown away, does anybody have recommendations? Doesn't need to be the same blend of horror/comedy/surrealism, just things you think I should see based on that

i mean, it's not hard to tell all of you that, but i sent it to a co-worker who thought that Wingard's reveal was soo stupid and now he has no interest in the film because it's connected to BW

Blair Witch was ahead of its time, a film that largely still has the same impact as it did in '99.

  10. Doing my final Art of Film paper on Horror Comedies, Camp and the Rise of B-Movies, so I rented some I've never seen before (Piranha, Nuke 'Em High) in addition to some I haven't seen for a while (Behind the Mask, Drag Me to Hell) and some I own (Cabin in the Woods, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Tusk, etc.)

  11. Lights Out was solid. The scares are basic, but effective. Couple slight subversions of genre tropes, which I appreciated.

One slight issue, but not really. You've been dating him for 8 months, and the guy can't even sleep over?! Harsh haha. They went all-in on the commitment issues.

I didn't love it. It's worth seeing but it's pretty by the numbers

That sounds really cool! When does the paper have to be finished?

I think lights out is a bit run of the mill pg13 horror but for someone like me who's petrified of the dark screw all that noise not uh nope bye.

Also i need to have a conversation about Brett and relationship goals. He was crafty af about staying in the light. Thats an attribute I respect. I'd throw that dude some vows

    Yeah, about Lights Out.

When has there ever been a significant other so supportive? And he lived! I kept expecting him to die. I'm glad his cleverness was rewarded.

I didn't like him, I think it's just because he just looked scuzzy

I LOVED the Evil Dead remake, still think it's one of the better horror remakes we've seen.

  24. Definitely. Helps that Raimi was still involved and it held onto the series' campy feel while being much more subtle about its humor and pulling the reboot in a very different direction. Really hope we see a sequel.

Even though I pretty much knew what was going to happen, that movie still scared the shit out of me. The 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre felt the same way.
