Yeah, she's not lying, but it really seems that she's being purposely vague. I find it difficult to believe that she used those words without thinking that they're still open to be misinterpreted given the slew of media reports

  2. His campaign directly said it was a lie today and called on her to say that it was a lie and he never said it. But, if she's not lying, then he did say it. And if you want more from both of them I'm sure we'll get 30 minutes on it in the "debate" tomorrow on this stupid shit.

I had my advising professor tell me that the career I wanted to pursue wouldn’t hire me because I’m a black man. They portrayed it as a “wake up call” type of talk. Said professor also taught the racist history of the profession, which was interesting to me because the large majority of the department was white kids.

I recognize that this isn’t a 1:1 comparison between my experience and Warren’s. I wasn’t competing for office against my professor. What may be similar though is someone with privilege and history of successful advocacy and good intentions blundering. In those moments it becomes obvious how that person benefits from the system above the people they’re trying to help. If Sanders was parroting a misogynist line in an attempt to express empathy for the harsh reality she might face then he owes her a sincere apology because his intentions don’t matter. It’d have been better to provide encouragement. That expectation shouldn’t stop just because Sanders policies are superior to Warren’s.

I have no faith that this will be the resolution or that we’ll even know what happened with certainty.

  4. Another reason the "Warren calls Bernie secretly anti-women" post was complete bullshit.

I just struggle with this idea that “believe women” is only for sexual assault or psychological abuse. The power relations perpetuated by patriarchy and the soft and unconscious expression of that power should count too.

This has probably been mentioned already, but I think there's a big difference between being sexist and believing that a woman would have trouble winning a national election. Hell, even my mom who identifies as a feminist has claimed that we need a white man to win the democratic primary because this country would never elect I woman over trump. Which, while I don't necessarily agree, has been the case for the entire history of this country, to the point where we voted for a clear racist and sexist idiot over a perfectly qualified woman. My guess is that, if anything, Bernie was voicing those concerns in the conversation.

Warren's statement and Bernie's statement both confirm as much

And yet the Warren stans are still going "Bernie's sexist" despite Warren's strong support of his character, and Bernie stans are still going "Warren is calling Bernie sexist" when she quite clearly is not

Hopefully they find a way to get their supporters realize we're all on the same team here but I think we might just be fucked

The whole #believewomen thing carries a strong subtext that Bernie doesn't believe Warren and is sexist for doing so

It doesn't matter what Warren's intentions are or what Bernie actually said, this is the message people are getting from this.

Just give me tomorrow night when the moderators try to push this narrative at the debate tomorrow but both of them back off, clear tension, and move on so we can go back to the normally scheduled discussion of Biden fumbling over himself and still increasing 2% in the polls.
