Work In Progress was the first song that popped up on my old ipod after my failed suicide attempt many moons ago. I still get chills and a little misty-eyed every time I hear it. Catholic Girls also has a similar effect on me.

Life goes on.

 

Yeah it's strange. I'm going through another break up now (3 1/2 years) and I feel War Paint is an album I gravitate to at times like this. I think I'm gonna go give it a few spins...

yup. Tom is just a loonie dude who is a little too into his hobbies and endeavors. Cody is a sociopath.

 

Both of their first two records found me at crossroads in my life. Reach for the Sun came out the summer before I went to college; War Paint came out when I was questioning what I wanted to do with my life/the summer I started writing about music. War Paint found me at this time when I was no longer sure of basically everything I had been sure about two years prior. That summer followed a really shitty semester and a part of me didn't even want to go back to school. But that year was also my second summer with my girlfriend/now wife, and getting away from school and spending the entire season with her out in the sun and by the water was incredible. A lot of the songs on that album are sad, but I hear most of it as triumphant now because of how important it was at a key turning point in my life. A played it pretty much every time I drove out to her house and pretty much every time I drove home late at night.

 

I remember when that Work In Progress demo came out. I think it was called Dark Chocolate

I think he's implying that AJ/TDS is working with another hopeless/fearless artist. Like, without him. Just how I read it, especially with AJ posting about working with Will Noon the other day. Was he ever on Hopeless or Fearless?

 

Idk why he'd have info on it unless he was involved. If AJ goes back to working with him then that will be so disappointing.

 

mutual friends could have told him. The post does seem super salty, I doubt Cody has anything to do with what he's referencing.

 

Yeah, only a few years removed from the break-up / hiatus, whatever it is...I don't see them getting back together yet, or any time soon. Maybe in 10 years for a reunion tour or something, but it's still pretty fresh and new, can't imagine AJ and Cody would be working together. However, it would be awesome if AJ is working on a new project or new material (as long as his voice doesn't sound like it did on Golden Record...)

 

But who would it be? I can't think of anyone that jumps out...

 

I came across this demo of a song called "Hired" it's only a minute long. I hadn't ever heard it before

really big hopes that the new Dreamcatcher album will fill the TDS-shaped hole in my heart, I absolutely love the single they dropped late last year

 

This is fucking awesome. Judging by the sound I guess it's from around RFTS-era...?

 

From what I remember they wrote this song and submitted it as a possible opening theme song for the MTV show Hired.

 

Also does anyone have a link to the Work in Progress demo? Seems it got taken off YouTube.

 

AJ posted on IG that he was recording vocals. Hopefully it's for more than a guest spot.

 

At this point, I'm really hoping AJ & Tyler start working on something, but I'd love to see this bands original line up back, minus Cody.

 

Cody posts on Facebook that he just "happened to find" leftover TDS merch ALL THE TIME. This time it was in a storage unit apparently, haha. Then he insists it's the last time you'll be able to buy merch, "how did I not know we still had this, wow!!!!," "only gonna sell them for a couple days so if you want one get it now," "when they're gone this is it..." etc. It's pathetic.
