Tim Kaine Speaks Spanish, But Latinos Need More Than That to Be Impressed

Not trying to be argumentative or combative, but I really wonder about the effectiveness his speaking Spanish will have.

the point is it gives him a foot in the door. It'll cause Latino voters to pay attention to what he is saying. If they don't like what he is saying, then obviously it won't do much. But I think its going to get them listening, and if his message connects it could really swing things in Florida

Jeb Bush speaks Spanish fluently and is married to a Mexican-American. That didn't seem to help the Hispanic vote in the primaries.

Am at my dad's friend's (he has two kids I play video games with) house and p much my whole race of older people (regardless of gender) seem to be for Trump.

I was asked if liked Trump and I was like no. I said this pretty firmly and it was in front of my parents.

Then I was asked about Bernie (he's not even in the race anymore..? Kind of weird to mention him instead of Hillary) and I just said talking about politics makes me uncomfortable. Which it does with family and relatives. I'm not sure why he has to talk about it every time we see him. I didn't want to get into how ironic it is for anyone of us to be supporting Trump especially with all the accusations of assault and the misogynistic remarks. Thankfully the daughters I know agree with me

Lol so if you supposedly help someone you're allowed to harass them later on. Great logic.

Obviously that's an extreme view that I can't imagine many liberals would actually feel. Given the degree of Trump's bigotry and misogyny, it's hard for me to focus on Hillary's views on anything other than "she can stop trump".

When I told my girlfriends dad that the keystone pipeline wasn't going to do anything for America because TransCanada or whatever it's called was just looking for a way to get their product down south faster to refine it and sell it on the global market, he said that it only wouldn't help America because of Obama and all the restrictions he's put on oil companies.

These are American voters. This is not a dumb person, but an uninformed person who watches a lot of FoxNews. And we expect voters to understand complex issues like tax or health policy??

The DNC and DWS especially are disgraces.

DNC was always incompetent too, especially compared to the RNC. Obama's election and subsequent RNC meltdown over the last 8 years made you think the tables might be flipped but nope...DNC just as awful as ever.

This election gets worse and worse for Hillary. Whether she was complicit or not, that's the conclusion people will come to.

That's fair enough. For what it's worth I don't think the tweet was trying to present the two as literally equal (there were a couple following it up that I should have posted as well), and I definitely wasn't. I just figure there is room to acknowledge both though - if anything there probably is an argument to be made that "establishment" liberalism not having much to offer in itself of late, and being too happy to settle for just being a lesser degree of bad, has some kind of culpability in the rise of more extreme movements (which is what I think Wiger was driving for) - which isn't to take away from how abhorrent Trump is either.

Clinton's leftward shift was always unsustainable, she has always been ideologically right of center and the Kaine pick along with this leak shows that any past deviation from that was only temporary.
