I'll just have this thread cover all of the series.

Going through The Next Generation right now. My god, the writing is so good. Love the themes they tackle. Such a forward thinking show.

So pumped for the new series.

 

Bryan Fuller, right? Not a huge Trek fan, but I'll watch anything he's a part of.

 

I love Trek, I love Fuller, it's a dream match for me.

Thinking about starting a DS9 rewatch sometime soon.

Seriously though, one of the most influential forces in sci-fi. Crazy to think just how much tech has been created due to inspiration from Star Trek.

Watched this last night. Absolutely loved it.

 

I've had a lot of false starts trying to get into the show. I'm a completist, so I started with TOS, and just found it quite cheesy and boring for a lot of years. For some reason it finally took, thanks in large part to "Balance of Terror," which is just a fucking undeniably great hour of television. So, hi guys. Nice to be here.

Burning through TOS right now, was then going to go like this (basically in chronological order):

TOS
TOS movies
TNG
TNG movies
DS9
Voyager
Enterprise

Not sure if I should watch TAS, heard mixed things. Also, someone please let me know if that's the best way to watch the modern three series. I know they overlapped some in their air dates.

 

Sticking to one series at a time is mostly fine. Characters from some shows appear on others, though many of the major occurrences are TNG or TOS characters popping up on the later shows. Off the top of my head I can only really recall one major crossover that won't work sticking to that order (a DS9 character plays a large role in a TNG episode).

If you wanted to start watching shows simultaneously/as they aired, DS9 started midway through TNG S6 and Voyager midway through DS9 S4.

There's some fun stuff in TAS, I'd give it a shot at least. If you're devoting yourself to watching hundreds of episodes of a series, what's another 20 half hour episodes?

They also announced it won't be episodic, but rather serialized.

 

Also got confirmation that it takes place in the Prime/original timeline.

 

Always assumed it would be, but nice to get official confirmation.

 

TCA panel going on right now so news is coming out:

-Series set 10 years before Kirk's 5 Year Mission
-Female lead, not a captain
-There will be a gay crew member, lots of aliens
-Could maybe involve Section 31, Amanda Grayson

I need to be more thorough in my Trek love. I've seen all 13 movies, all of TNG and about half of DS9. I'm about 6 episodes into TOS. I kind of want to get through everything eventually.

 

I've been re-watching episodes here and there but I'll be honest, I've never quite watched an entire series of Star Trek. Any particular series I should go with? I hear great things about DS9, TNG, and TOS so I guess one of those would be the best.

My first introduction to Star Trek was, funnily enough, First Contact. I didnt understand what was really happening, but I love the action and the cinematography and the characters. The borg still terrify and fascinate me to this day.

 

Not an expert, but I've always found DS9 to be the "best" and TNG to be my "favorite"

This 100%. Also DS9 benefits most from a full watch since it has more serialized elements than any of the other shows.

(eventually watch both though, I love TNG and DS9 to death)

 

Yeah DS9 having actual arcs was almost a surprise at first.
