I remember DiCaprio's as a pretty boy more. The girls in 4th and 5th grade were obsessed with him.

truly baffling. a friend of mine acts like he's on bale/DDL/PSH level and it's fucking absurd

I find it very hard for me to see him as a character and not just Leo, but sometimes like Wolf Of Wall Street that's an advantage

I’d put Pitt on PSH’s level

I wouldn't compare Bale to the others either.

I think it is too hard to really rank actors because they are so reliant on the director, which is out of their control. Generally, though, Joaquin Phoenix is probably the most exciting working actor, even disregarding Joker. Michelle Williams has an extremely high success rate as well. Jake Gyllenhaal seems like he would be really good if he chose better roles.

PSH is my favorite actor, ever. i like pitt way more than leo, and i might be biased, but what is the best pitt performance? jesse james? moneyball? tree of life? i wouldn't say any of those are on par with even average PSH performances.

i included bale bc i think when he's really on, he is on the par of those mentioned and pretty remarkable. but it has become few and far between the last decade, granted.

Burn After Reading or IG probably but nothing is as good as PSH

I think his best performance of an outright character is Jesse James, but his best understated subtle roles are Moneyball and Tree of Life, yes. Plus, he has a dozen or more other amazing performances in general.

PSH is obviously fantastic though, love the man. I do wonder if he gets more ‘credit’ than someone like Pitt or DDL because he’s not traditionally attractive.

honestly, the most affecting brad performance for me might be ad astra

still not remotely close to, like, PSH in mission impossible lol

It is pretty hard to gauge them. You don't even know what your scenes are going to be constructed into.

Wait, are you saying PSH in MI:III was better than Pitt in Ad Astra?

i do kinda wonder if PSH would have done a QT had he survived. i feel like i could have seen him in H8 but that would have been disappointing.

i mean, yeah. it's my favorite movie of the year haha. i think it's his best performance. PSH is next level in that movie and elevates it from the utter shit it would have been without him

Damn, well, agree to disagree. I didn’t like Ad Astra but Pitt was phenomenal in it. And I always felt that while PSH was entertaining in MI:III, and I like the movie a lot, he was over-the-top and intentionally hammy.

Lupita Nyong’o and Jared Harris have been some of my favorite screen presences of the last couple years (I haven’t watched Chernobyl)

I will say I think PSH has more of a knack to draw out emotions in me than Pitt does.

Goddamn, I miss PSH. What a sad shame.

My dad doesn’t like QT because Pulp Fiction isn’t presented in chronological order
