I don't really do digital, and I prefer to have something physically there. Also since they said it is coming eventually, I can't afford to pay for digital then buy CD. I have pretty bad OCD too and that kind of makes me latch onto things, so stuff like this can kind of mess up things for me. Seabird's "Troubled Days" they messed up my shipping and I got it like a month late and it it took me like two years to be able to enjoy the album. Haha I'm self aware of the issue, but off my meds I honestly can't do anything about it.

Finally got the chance to listen to this. Wow. Album sounds inspired and it doesn't sound (instrumentally) hollow like Collapsible Lung. It think it'll take me a week to fully appreciate this album, but as of the moment, I am in love with Air For Free. This was very close to how I felt when I first heard FANSD, that I had such a sure feeling that there will be many drives and trips that this will be the only on-repeat album.

Early favorites are Man, Empty House, Flower, Marigold, and Heartache.

I could maybe cut a song or three and this would be a sure Tier 1 rank with FANSD for me.

Pretty sure the CD is coming out soon, thought I saw them say that on Twitter/Instagram at one point

Agreed. This album is going to have a steady rotation on my drives. It's a very thoughtful piece of work.

Hoopes at one point said there will be pre-sale for them "soon" but that never happened. Someone from SMLXL said they'll be up on Relient k's website "soon" when someone emailed them about it today, but the band has been saying "soon" since people first started asking about CDs so I don't really know when to expect it. haha It is a bit of a bummer that they kind of alienated a whole demographic of sales/fans though. Especially when the vinyl ended up being screwed up anyway.

I sort of agree in that I've bought every one of their releases on CD so I would've snagged it as well.

Hopefully they get it sorted out. Bet they just didn't think it would be a big deal since almost everyone seems to be all digital for the most part.

I can imagine they are saving a lot of money by not having to pay CD manufacturing costs though.

I don't know, CD still accounts for 57.2% of album sales while digital is 40.6%. The numbers are from about 3 years ago, but I don't imagine they've drastically change. Vinyl might have gotten a slight bump that took from both CD and Digital though.

I feel like this little mess might be the result of SMLXL wanting to try and get a sales boost by vinyl being the only physical option. But I don't know really, just speculating there.

I'm going to what is being labeled a "CD release show" tomorrow night. Hoping to get one there.

@Benjamin Lee if there is some I would be happy to pick one up and mail it to you.

I would have done this, but all I can find is the kinda shitty quality leak. Did you find a better one somewhere?

I haven't looked yet but since it's out now surely it shouldn't be difficult.

I am really out of the illegal game. haha Only site I know about at this point is Kingdom-Leaks and last I checked they still have the leak.

@aspeedomodel Well, the leak is 320kbps, but it's just like someone took a 128-160 one and rendered it to be 320.

Ah, I haven't listened to it, just saw it and passed it to a few people. My ear doesn't usually care unless it's like REALLY bad haha

i’ve been meaning to tell you

I usually can't hear a difference and don't like to pretend I can, but I was shocked by how much better the official digital download sounded than the leak.

Listening to Air For Free again, I don't like Prodigal and most of the album sounds a little too bassy. Overall I like it though.

    Waaaay too bass heavy.

Yeah, sometimes the bass seems to be eating the rest of the song. Unsure of how it will affect my enjoyment long term right now. Kinda just happy to have a Relient k album that isn't shit after 7 years right now. haha

Totally understandable - hopefully they release a cd, especially since Hoopes said there'll be one.
