Spurs recalled Jack Clarke from his loan at Leeds. Those assholes refused to sell without a loan back and then literally benched him every game.

This is how we are right now; either utterly resolute in defence or a total mess. We don't seem to have anything in the middle.

Also, not a clue why Gayle was on the pitch, much less in the squad. He's been hopeless.

 

Also, I think Bruce pretty much wrote that game off. Having both Longstaffs in the middle and no Hayden meant we had no DM at all. Every time United got the ball in the middle of the pitch they just breezed forward, straight at our centre backs.

I hope we take some points at the weekend to make up for that shit show.

Awful. The thing is you were right up there for the first half hour. But I don’t know what happened. Ye just started playing sloppily, wonder if Dubravka’s mistake ruined confidence. I’d say without that it would’ve been incredibly tough for us. We didn’t even make any great attempts ourselves outside of the third goal.

I’m aware of his reputation of publicly criticizing players but I didn’t interpret these comments as criticism.

I’m curious how different things would’ve played out had Barca not completely choked. I mean, credit to Liverpool on their comeback in that second leg but Barca is obviously better than what that result showed.

I think they’d still be the best team but the momentum and confidence from winning CL has certainly been a springboard this year.

Yeah, we looked pretty capable until we went down 2-1. I think it probably shook the backline up to see Dubravka make a mistake (although, unsure if they'd have known that on the pitch) and then Schar compounded it.

Also, Schar has the odd clanger in him. He's a solid player a lot of the time (strikes the ball very well too), but he definitely has some donkey moments.

Once we're losing though, we don't really have a plan. We're built around counter attacking, which isn't much use when you're losing and the other team can cruise.
