Just so I don’t have to sift through it do you mind telling me their general opinions? They like it? Didn’t?

Been on a complete media blackout until I got to see this today. So I went in without any idea of reviews, etc.

Boy did I hate just about each and every second of this. What a bummer.

Overall very positive. But nothing they liked really made any difference for me.

Wow I’m surprised. I thought Ken especially wouldn’t. They are all about themes and meaning. Will be interesting to hear their perspectives

I mean, it came down to them having emotional reactions at times. If I had felt that, maybe i would see where they are coming from. But I didn’t. My strongest emotional reactions were negative. Rey being a Palpatine. That awful kiss. Most of Palpatine’s stuff. I didn’t find joy, they apparently did.

that’s a pretty fantastic way to put it. I didn’t find any joy in this movie. And I desperately wanted to.

Like, when people say this movie was fun I am absolutely confused. I so badly want to feel that. But after two viewings, it just wasn’t there for me.

Like one moment Ken mentioned was Luke lifting the x-wing. He cried during it. I like that moment a lot, but I wasn’t that moved by it.

This movie sure made me want to cry, but not for the same reasons this Ken guy did I am assuming.

Tremendous missed opportunity which wasted some extremely talented actors.

When it was announced that JJ Abrams was coming back I was nervous, because his shortcomings as a filmmaker seemed particularly ill-suited to finishing a trilogy and capping a 9-part saga, but I tried to stay hopeful. When Rise of Skywalker was announced as the name I thought to myself "shit. they're probably doing exactly what I was hoping they would not do here..." but again, I tried to stay positive and hope the movie would turn out well. I really did try to watch this one with an open mind, but it was rough.

I thought the acting in this was some of the best out of the sequel characters

I keep trying to think of a scene where they let John Boyega act and instead I just remember 400 times he went, “Woo!!” while speeding by in some breakneck action piece.

Yea, my problems have nothing to do with the acting.

I also thought the acting was pretty good in that these actors are really talented and the fact that they didn't come off like fools with this material is impressive. Adam Driver in particular. He gives a phenomenal performance in this whole trilogy but where the story went really let him down. He deserved to be the main antagonist here, not Palpatine randomly brought back from the dead.

That was one of the most stupid fucking moments in a movie full of them, IMO. I thought the whole point of showing that X-Wing in TLJ was to show that Luke had no way off the island cuz, you know, if you put a vehicle in water for years there’s no way that thing’s going to work. But NOPE, apparently it worked all along and Luke could have totally showed up in person at the Battle of Crait.

I honestly had the feels whenever Poe had basically given up but flies around to see thousands of ships coming to help out. The way he paused and didn’t know how to verbally express to his team that this was the end was so good.

Too bad they ruined it by then giving Palpatine insane force lightning that could destroy an entire fleet but then PSYCH! it’s still not powerful enough to get through a couple of lightsabers for some reason. I was so tired of being twisted and duped by the end lol what are the rules even?

One of the other things I was impressed with in my recent rewatch of Force Awakens was how iconic a villain Kylo Ren is as soon as he shows up on screen. It really is similar to when Vader first shows up in Star Wars, and I don't think that's easy to do.

See, I always assumed it was usable. When they showed it to us I thought that was how he got to Crait. I think it’s way more powerful to force project and be a distraction and not allowing Kylo to have yet another Murder on his conscious. I am so glad he didn’t use it.

Man, this is where I’m at too and it’s such a bummer. Even the thought of finishing off The Mandalorian after this feels slightly depressing

I feel like Adam Driver really deserved better here, especially. Actually rehabilitating a former Sith instead of them dying moments after they turned would be very interesting.
