someone mentioning if he tossed it away the same way he did in Return of the Jedi it could have been great. the toss over the shoulder with his face is too goofy for me. but It's a small nitpick that doesn't hurt my love of the film

I watched this again this morning. God damn, I love it so much. The end on Crait is just beautiful all the way through. The red earth being ripped up by the battle is gorgeous. Luke on Crait really is the same guy from the OT, only with a more weathered and caring demeanor. When Hux is just starring at him like "you fucking idiot, this is your fault" is a great shot. Followed up by Rey cutting him off from the force. Kylo, you fucked up so hard.

And I always forget how great the R2 & Luke scene is early on in the film. It's the perfect example of how to use fanservice to move a story forward.

I did find one more small thing I would change though. Finn's arc would be even better (I still think it's great) if he had held on to the tracking beacon instead of giving it back to Poe before going to Canto Bight. It would have driven home how he is still more committed to his own cause at that point than the Resistance.

That’s a great observation but his commitment isn’t only to himself but to Rey as well. He’s going on a mission where they are going to go on the Supremecy and that’s why he didn’t keep it. Because Rey would’ve tried to find the beacon on him.

Good point! I guess I was stuck on thinking about it in the context that the mission fails and they're right there with the FO. But if he thinks it's going to be a success, then it makes more sense he would leave it with Poe.

Are we still getting the rian johnson trilogy? Are they just waiting a while to bring it up again?

Apparently Rian doesn’t even know and he hasn’t spoken to Disney in a while about it. He could be lying, but that’s what he said back in like October I think.

Bob Iger said they’re stepping about from a trilogy approach for future films so it’s most likely not going to be trilogy if he does make another.

Okay. Insane day / week / month at work and outside of work. I've had two martinis. Haven't seen Rise of Skywalker yet, but I'm sure it's fine. I'm sure it's a fun Star War. But this movie. This movie is a god damned miracle.

After seeing where they went with things and how they've navigated working with the fanbase since buying Star Wars, the fact that we got The Last Jedi in the form that we did, telling the story that it tells and making the kind of bold choices that it makes with the characters and the world and legacy, is almost inconceivable. This movie makes me so fucking happy and watching it brings back the magical feeling that I used to have as a kid when my dad would pop the Star Wars VHS tapes in in a way that no amount of empty fan service or ridiculous call backs could ever even come close to approaching, a feeling I was pretty sure my 36 year old jaded cynical ass was not going to experience from a movie ever again.

I still really enjoy ep I cause I loved it as a kid, but this is about where I stand. Solo is still fun, too.

Have seen multiple people on social media in the last few days rank this movie last on their Star Wars rankings and proclaim that it “killed their dreams” about Luke. Guess we really raised a whole generation of dudes who can’t handle the idea that their heroes might be fallible.

It's one of my favorite themes in the movie. Rey meeting Luke, Rose meeting Finn, Poe meeting Holdo. They all feel disappointed at first but in the end, their heroes come through in ways they didn't expect. It's great.

Christ, I don’t know. I think the end of TLJ is by far the most heroic thing Luke does as a character, soooo
