I honestly don’t remember ever feeling like I was having fun.

It’s about why you’re killing. In anger or defense? Rey is too angry here throughout. Her being emotional after her memories of her parents resurface does make sense, but the movie doesn’t really seem to understand why her killing Kylo in that rage was bad. It seems to only be bad because she loves Ben Solo. Sigh. Her regret doesn’t seem to be that she acted in her anger and struck him down. When he comes back, she tells him she wanted to take Ben’s hand. That was her motivation in saving him, not to correct her action in anger. Ugh.

Do I hate this movie? This sucks.

I feel so bad for Kelly Marie Tran and on a related note what the FUCK were they thinking with Finn in this movie

It wasn’t a fun movie. Not sure how J.J. could make TFA and it be such a ride and then make this.

I liked Finn more in this film than TLJ. As a matter of fact I enjoyed Rey and Poe more in this film as well tbh.

Finn in this movie was, IMO, just kinda there. He had a much stronger arc in TLJ. I don't understand why JJ kept trying to drive home that Finn loves Rey, if he was going to make Reylo a thing all along.

Finn: “Why don’t you come with us?”

Rose: “Sorry, too many people complained online about Canto Bight, some of those people with an extreme fixation on specifically me, dripping with racism & sexism, so I gotta hang out w/ a character whose actress died 3 yrs ago instead, in scenes where her footage was shot before I was cast, even though the locals are full of ideas that I’m specially equipped as a character to engage with.”

    Finn: “Weird flex but ok.”

The force healing stuff had to be planned. I’m sure it will be important in some other property down the line. It would have been cooler to see Rey do it if we hadn’t just learned about it from the baby.

I hated that Poe and Rey bickering scene. In a movie filled with whiplash and no breaks that felt like an eternity and it wasn’t funny or meaningful or anything.

Rey killing Ben not meaning anything to her character or the movie didn’t sit well with me the second it happened and only concerns me more as time goes on.

Some of the interesting additions to what we see the force do or how it’s used were great, and I liked the way Ben and Rey used their connection in the final battle. Zorii and Babu were maybe my favorite part other than that, but I have huge Keri Russell bias so that isn’t surprising. I was almost annoyed that they lived though, not because I wanted them hurt but because I couldn’t believe that the movie didn’t even have the stakes to kill characters we just met and only saw for five minutes.

So my girl friend who is not at all a star wars fan and had only seen episodes 3-8 reluctantly because I forced her too, actually said she really liked this movie. As a casual fan I can see how this movie would be really fun and exciting. But as a die hard, I see how it’s a huge let down.

As it's sit with me for a few days I do really want to see it again. Not saying that I love it, but there was plenty I enjoyed seeing that I would want to see again. I just don't believe this will have any profound effect on the fandom.

Usually I HATE all of the coincidences and plot contrivances that make this galaxy far, far away feel so damn small BUT - and this is a huge but - Kelly Marie Tran should have a huge part in Rian Johnson's future Star Wars movie(s). No matter what. If it's an entirely different era thousands of years and billions of light-years away from TLJ, they can call her Tose Rico or something.

Okay, so how does the light speed jumping thing work? Like, I understand how one ship can keep jumping blindly. But how do the TIE’s know when to leave hyperspace? And since when did standard TIE’s have hyper drives?

Works for me! If we can have Snokes In Tanks just because, we can have Rose Tico clones. RJ is a good enough writer, I trust him to make it work.

Speaking of Snoke clones, I am so glad I watched this before I saw the movie. It made me laugh so hard when the clones were revealed.

I'm not going to bat for this movie but the way I thought about it is that jumping to light speed creates a vortex of sorts (probably not the best word for it) and if a ship flies through the vortex created by another ship before it vanishes, they go to the same place.

I don't know. There's no science to that haha

  21. If it wasn't for this thread, I wouldn't have known those were Snoke clones. Were they ever referenced by names? The cinematography was just so dark and dull at times that I didn't notice them.

    A (Cancelled) Dork Prestigious

My conspiracy theory is that it was an effort to head off the "uh, excuse me, there's no precedent for [X Force power] ever being used before how can they do that?!?!?!?!?!" dorks who had a problem with the Force saving Leia and Luke using a Force projection in TLJ. Hence partly why they released it early.

I liked this. Not big on some of the retcons but I definitely had a good time watching it.

now time to wait for the dvd so I can watch all 3 trilogies and pick apart their themes and connections because there’s a lot of echoes to past films in this one and I really wanna go see it again just because I’m sure I missed some things

Even that doesn’t make sense. Let’s say that’s how the TIE’s enters hyperspace, totally doesn’t make sense but fuck it, that’s how they can leave at the same time. But then they should be stuck in hyperspace since they don’t have their own hyper drive.

It was when Kylo first finds Sheev. Shortly after Sheev says he made Snoke there is a shot of a tank filled with green liquid with at least 2 Snoke looking creatures.
