It's the end of the skywalker saga and I think as of now all the other movies were put on hold but I could be wrong

 

So like, the end of the chronological "Episode" movies?

Huh, interesting I didn't know that. Do you all think that's legitimate or are they going to go back to the well in 5-7 years? Was the original plan to only do these three and then stop or is this because Solo "bombed"

 

The story was always planned for nine episodes, it just took 40 years to get there.

 

But wait Rian Johnson is in talks to start a new trilogy? That isn't "Skywalker focused"? I don't understand, it sounds like they are just going to continue the series

 

I would probably bet any amount of money that Rey or whoever show up in another Star Wars movie

 

It is just marketing hype.

 

The universe is going to get milked to death in other ways, but this specific story will be done. It won’t be about Luke and Vader and Kylo and Rey and this family or their friends trying to bring balance and peace. There’s nothing to stop them from bringing other people or familiar locations into future movies, but it will be separate.

My personal interest has always been focused on the main story and not the EU or most standalone stories, so once this is done I don’t see myself keeping up with it nearly as much.

 

Shame Disney retconned all the EU books and stuff

 

Can someone explain the Rian Johnson controversy to me? A lot of reactions are saying the new movie is disrespectful to him and that fans of TLJ will not be pleased. What happened with that one?

Not a legit spoiler, but I know how obsessive SW fans are

 

I believe all we really know is that the next movie (which as far as I know is still slated to come out in December 2022*) will be unrelated to Episodes1-9. But we don't know the extent of how unrelated it will be. Will it take place in a different galaxy entirely? Will it take place in the same galaxy but decades in the future so none of the current characters will be involved? What about it will still make it "Star Wars" if it doesn't have things like the Jedi or whatever? We won't know for a couple years.




*Is that plan still on to alternate releasing Avatar/Star Wars movies every year from 2021-2027?

Ok we're having fun but at the same time I just imagined a Na'vi riding at banshee and wielding a lightsaber and that's kind of the most metal thing I can think of right now

 

I was pleasantly surprised that my preferred independent theater in Detroit is getting it next week

 

I'm stoked but nervous because Bam has had a rough couple years.

 

Yeah, followed his issues pretty closely and I hope he’s doing well in treatment.
