    Something Truly Awful

    I never ever thought I would say this, but Issues new album is actually awesome.

    I've never hated them (Black Diamonds and the self-titled were cool at the time, I didn't like Headspace much aside from 2 or so songs), but Beautiful Oblivion is so damn good. It's not quite an AOTY for me but it was a super welcome surprise pleasure to listen to.

    It wound up my #6 on my top 50 for the year, record’s a blast! Probably still isn’t really for everyone, but I wish more people around here would give it a shot. I think barring maybe Tapping Out, most would be pleasantly surprised.

    It is so fucking good. I went in with no expectations knowing that Bohn wasn't on it but it made me realise they maybe never really needed him at all. They do just fine dining down the screams and focusing on Tyler alone.

    And hey, I actually dig "Tapping Out" the most.

    Oh yeah I dig Tapping Out too! I just more meant like, it's probably the track a person would be least "surprised" to hear when putting on an Issues record. But 100% agree, condensing screaming parts to where they work instead of writing parts to force it in definitely wound up boding well for them
