I don't mind the previews, it's annoying moviegoers that get me. I guess anybody going this early in the run (within the first 3 days or so) is there because they really want to see it, but it's a week or so in that people can be rude as fuck. On their phones, talking, etc.

The midnight premiere I'm going to is in a deluxe cinema that only has 32 seats, so less people in there is gonna be so bliss, haha.

Does anyone have a favourite piece of music from the entire saga + 2 side movies? I love The Jedi Steps + Finale from TFA, but I've gotta give my favourite to Yoda's Theme. For me it encapsulates everything wonderful about Star Wars, it's uplifting but kind of mysterious. There's so many great musical moments though.

Going to be honest, her comment that they’re moving away from trilogies because the three act structure is limiting, and that they want to let the stories dictate how many films there are, just screams to me that they’re going to let the box office dictate how many films there are. It’s the Marvel approach, and I’m scared of what that means for the future of Star Wars. Call me cynical or whatever, it just doesn’t put a good feeling in my stomach.

until Disney makes a SW product I don't like, I am not worried one iota about the future of the franchise/what direction they decide to take things. with 4 great films, a great series, and a 5th film this week that i anticipate loving, i just think personally they've earned my benefit of the doubt

    Two MCUs is my nightmare

  9. Just give interesting writers and directors an opportunity to tell stories within the universe. No need for every film to be a big blockbuster.

The scaled back feel of The Mandalorian and Solo would work perfectly for future stories. I'd love more War-esque films similar to Rogue One, exploring conflicts from different eras within the SW universe. What would be cool too is a new version of the canonised beginning of the Jedi Order story.

  11. Disney isn’t gonna start aiming their billion dollar franchises at small films folks, sorry to break it to you.

I think Star Wars and the MCU are different enough that you don't really have to worry about it becoming a second MCU. Star Wars doesn't have the same story restraints as superhero stories in my eyes.

I think the smaller scale stories are going to be left for Disney+ and the ones with big galactic implications are going to be for the big screen.

My hope is that Disney+ is reserved for all the stories they have to tell anywhere in the current timeline. Save the movies for a huge time jump.

There'll also be the article hot takes.

"Why The Rise Of Skywalker is the movie we need in 2019."
"The Skywalker Saga is over. Now what? According to Kathleen Kennedy, this is only the beginning."
"Did J.J stick the landing? Consensus is yes, but some are disappointed."

I wouldn’t be worried about Star Wars becoming a 2nd MCU. Bob Iger, who is in control more than KK, said they will be limiting Star Wars films for the near future. I’d expect maybe 2 films in the next 6-7 years

"Did Oscar Isaac just confirm a follow up trilogy to the Skywalker saga? Sources say yes."

Source is a quote from him saying: "Yeah, maybe I'd do another one if it was ever offered."

Rewatching TFA and I love how JJ shoots the dogfights/ships. The Falcon escape from Jakku, Poe/Finn’s escape, the Siege of Takodana, and the Battle of Starkiller Base are all so much fun and have so much energy. It makes me really excited for what we might see in Rise of Skywalker.
